It's a decent amount, it's not as life changing as it used to be 10, even 5 years ago. Through the course of a lifetime you need a lot more than a million pounds, so in answer to you question the answer is kinda off. ok? |

if you're on the dole, yes.
if you're a multimillionaire, no |

It's all relative, to an old age pensioner it is an inconceivable amount of money, to the sort of person who can spend eighty million on an oil painting it is just peanuts. To me it would come in very handy thanks. |

It is one hell of a large amount when you have not got a lot. |

I dont think so - not now. The average house can cost you half that in some area's. Time you have a nice holiday, buy a nice car and furnish the house its nearly gone xx |

depends on what you would do with it and what your personal circumstances are. to me i'm 23 have a £112,500 mortgage and owe the bank £11,317 on a loan it would be a lot of money and be very very welcome as i could pay off mortgage and loan and be a lot better of a month. But to Richard Branson it would probably be like £50 is to us "normal" folks! |

Not really, not these days, but when you don't have anything like it then it is a lot of money that can buy you comfort. |

Dont get me wrong I would love to have a million pounds, but as you say with all the big earners out there and the cost of today's society I dont believe £1 million is that much.
I reckon you need to have 5 million + to be classed as proper millionaire and lead a lavish lifestyle. |

Not any more but it's a lot more than I've got. |

In todays day and age, a million pounds is not half as much and can not get you half as much as it could between five and ten years ago. |

YES IT IS.
Example: Buy a 3 bed house for about 350k nearish london and the remainder 650k will net you about 45k each year in interest only the UK.
A 45k salary is considered amongst the best paid in any discipline in the UK.
With no mortgage, you could easily set aside 500/month for a pension and still have 2k a month to live on for the rest of your life.
And the best thing about it.... You don't have to take orders from anyone any longer!!!
Don't forget, you still have the original capital banked. |
