Already got it planned, retiring to New Zealand in about 10 years time, got property out there, stuff this hell-hole of a place, im off to live out my life in paradise on earth, fabulous scenery, incredibly friendly people, virtually no crime, masses of wide open space, no overcrowding -absolute heaven. |

If I could leave right now I would. It's not just about the energy bills, interest rates, unemployment or rising inflation. It's more than that for me. The general state this country is in is very worrying. For a while things were going well (or so it seems), but things have been in decline for the last 3 years. Now more than ever, there doesn't seem to be any sense of community anymore. It's all about me me me and what I can get. And people seem to have taken leave of their senses in general.
Then there are things liken the NHS (oh what a mess!), the trains (and transport in general), education, the justice system, you name it. Everything seems to be in flux (sometimes this can be healthy, but it doesn't seem that way at the moment). Where is the stability?
As for the economy....I often read/hear Mr Brown say the economy is healthy and "robust", but he should walk around a few town centres to get the real picture. The reality is far different from the statistics he uses to make his economic observations and predictions.
But I'm not sure where I would go. Every country has it's own problems and difficulties and every country goes through ups and downs. It's easier for me to say where I would not go, like South Africa or Georgia. |

I'll stay right here in Arkansas...never have had to lock my truck or apartment since I've been here....my two bedroom apartment is only $370 per month and it's all electric and even in the coldest or hottest months the electric bill has never been over $110 per month....quiet and friendly neighbors...can't beat it.
Happy as a coon in a garbage bin....LOL |

I am seriously thinking about going overseas to work , I am sick of pandering to the vocal ethnic , immigrant minority , political correctness etc I am not against immigrants coming here , but come here to live like Brits I am sick of having areas taken over by polish plumbers and builders so that I am not welcome in my home town if they don't go or interact like Brits then I am off Please send copy to Tony Blair |

My parents are thinking of going to Cyprus this year.
The cost of living is cheaper but they dont work as many hours either. You wont have heating bills there. Its air con instead. |

I'm getting tired of Texas and the illegal immigration problem that's not getting handled, not to mention the fact that I'm paying more taxes to support people who shouldn't even be here in the first place.
... Canada sounds good. |

No, I'll hang around for a while yet.
As for extortionate energy bills, well there's nuclear power I suppose. Nobody likes that thought, but we import more energy than we produce so we are increasingly at the mercy of foreign based corporations & even foreign countries. What if Russia decides to cut off our gas in ten years time ?
We would be totally f*cked....but who wants a nuclear power station next door ? One way or another, we have to start making some hard choices when it comes to energy ! |

Yes! Well you lucky duck! You can move to a number of different countries and still get back home in time for dinner!
Here in bad old US of A. We can escape to the frozen Canadian tundra or slide on down to backwards Mexico.
At least you have some choices!! |

I'm not from brittan but I do know that all you need to do is think. Should I leave britttan? What will I miss terably there? If you won't miss anyone/anything than you should leave but if you will miss someone dont bother
Hope this helps!

Yes, at times I would like to move, but I am pretty sure that I would end up missing England. The long list of this that I hate about Britain would over time be replaced by the list of thing that I loved about England.
Also, when I have met British expats in other countries they always seam to end up creating their own little Britain community - effectively recreating some of that which they wanted to leave behind...... |

You're tired of Britain. Try the good old USA. I mean do not misunderstand me. I am very proud of my country but man those guys up in Washington who call themselves our representatives are sometimes not very much different than the local hoodlums.
Extortion, money laundering, pay-offs, pork-belly spending, embezzlement, etc.
I would probably be better off joining them. I would rather go live on some deserted island somewhere in the Caribbean than to have to be extorted any longer. |
