Body odor, Bromhidrosis is the smell of bacteria growing on the body. These bacteria multiply considerably in the presence of sweat, but sweat itself is almost totally odorless. Body odor is associated with the hair, skin, breasts, armpits and genitals.
Body odor is specific to the individual (except for identical twins in the same environment), and can be used to identify people, though this is more often done by dogs than by humans. An individual's bodily odor is also influenced by diet, gender, genetics, health, medication, occupation, and mood. 17th century Japanese encountering Europeans for the first time found their odor particularly strong, and blamed it on the butter Europeans ate. The term bata-kusai (roughly meaning "butter reekers") was soon used to describe Europeans and still connotes anyone obviously Western. |

I don't know, but I know it's both disgusting and RUDE. I used to work with someone who didn't believe in wearing deoderant. I think it's selfish. |

You can not get BO from someone just from being around them. But, if you live with them, there are really good chances that their smell is in your clothes and hair. You would only have to wash yourself and your clothes to clear up the problem. |

Not unless you get your friends sweaty stinkyness on you. |

Not contagious, but can be hereditary and is linked to hormones and food choices, among other causes.
If someone is reeking (say, from gym class) and grabs you, you are going to smell if their sweat gets on you. (Sorry.) But you can bathe or change clothes and smell clean again. |

yea if you rub ,touch, wear clothing, sleep in bed, hold hands, hang at his place all the time. These things here will make you two one which means your now infected. So, easily tell him to wear deodorant and clean up his act or your gone! BUT, The one thing about his b.o. is that he probably dosen't smell it himself that's why someone needs to tell him. He might head straight for the deodorant not realizing he even smelled. know the difference because it's probably not his fault. |

No, BO is not contagious. You get it from bad hygiene habits. There are medical reasons a person can smell bad, but in general it's because they don't wash themselves well or often enough. |

I tend to thing you would smell of their b.o. too, If I stand by a smoker I smell like I smoked so if I'm next to a smell b.o. person I will take out the lysol and don't care if i hurt their feelings because that is disgusting. |
