Well I've ordered 3 times from Ebay. The third thing hasnt got here yet but the other 2 were great! fast shipping and really nice people. I dont think its 100% safe but if people rip you off you can report them and rate them like hell!!! Its not that hard to get your money back..just report it and so on. |

No, it's not even near 100% safe.
When you order from e-bay, you are doing business with individuals, not with Ebay. As soon as something goes wrong, Ebay, the company will disclaim all responsibility and tell you, they are just a listing agent. It is not that much different from classified ads in news paper.
All the protections ebay and pay-pal seems to claim often turns out to be no help at all.
If your seller decides to defraud you, often, there isn't much you can do to get your money back. |

I wouldn't buy anything expensive on eBay, especially without insurance. PayPal's Buyer Protection is practically written on toilet paper. |

It is not guaranteed. It depends upon the honesty of the individual you purchased the item from. The person can "say" they shipped it without every shipping it. Normally people have user ratings and you should read them to see how reliable that person is. If the person has a good rating there is nothing to worry about. |

eBay is relatively safe to use and buy from. I always check the sellers rating before I buy and I usually go for it if it is 97% or over. You could also check all the feedback he has had over the last year. I have never had any problems buying over eBay though. The furthest I have had something shipped is from either Japan or USA. Not sure which is further, im in the UK :) |

Depends on the seller...I never received an item I bought but I was refunded the money within a couple days of my complaint. |

no, there are people on ebay that don't ship the product but claim they did. Look at the seller's rating. That's the method you have for estimating the risk. If they have a good rating and have sold a lot of things, there is low risk.
98.9 is not bad if they have medium volume. If they have high volume, that's not a great score, but it's still pretty good. |

Credit number wise, its not fool proof but for the most part it is. As to whether what you bought was legit or not? That's a small chance you could have gotten screwed |

I've had probably 200 transactions on eBay.
2 items never arrived and by the time I was able to contact the seller, it was too late to do anything about it. |

It;s not 100% safe. That's why they have the rating system. People with low ratings have a tendency of not shipping orders, or shipping low quality items. With higher ratings, you normally get what you expect. If you have any grievances, you can normally report them and get refunded and leave them a bad rating to let future buyers know.
Don't worry about it too much. Other than an actual, well-known store, Ebay is one of the safest places to buy randoms. |

You should check the feedback of the seller to check feedback on stuff he's previously sold. If it's really positive, like in the 90s, you should be safe. |

More than usually, it's reliable. You should check the feedback the seller has received before and if it's positive, you will probably be ok. |

Nothing is 100%. Look at the feedback your seller has received in the past. And hopefully you paid through PayPal because if something goes wrong, they will refund your money even if the seller wont. |

I don't know if you can be sure that's it's 100% guarenteed but I've bought a TON of things on Ebay and I've never had a single problem. Also, if you're buying something expensive like you said, always try and buy from a Power Seller because they have really good ratings and have dealed with a lot of people! |

They do have all sorts of protections in place. If you're concerned about the breakability and want to insure the shipping, he best thing to do is to send the seller a note asking if he is willing to tack on insurance to shipping costs of the item and pay extra for it. Every shipping company has insurance. |

I think if the seller has a high score--like 99.9% and a large number of sales you can trust them. Also, read the comments other buyers leave--they say a lot. I'd use Pay Pal just to be safe, and I would have insured it. And , in my opinion, the post office is generally good--much better than years ago--at successfully delivering packages. If you just ordered it, maybe you can contact the seller and add shipping insurance before it is sent. I don't want to seem biased, but I don't buy from China, as prices are just "too good" to be real, and Australia takes awhile to arrive. But I've been overall more than satisfied. |
