Yes there are many benefits to joining the armed services and the Air Force is by far the best of the bunch ( that is if you can get in, they are very selective) If I had known about all of the VA benefits (money for school, Home loans etc) before having a child I would have joined |

I am a prior AF officer and my husband is a Marine-- USAF is definitely the way to go- they have more $$ for programs and facilities than the other brances, and they have some awesome duty-station locations! Don't get me wrong, it's not always fun, but it's a great way to see some of the world and if it's not for you, you can always get out in a few years (: |

My husband is in the air force and it's definitely a great career move. They are paying for his education and they offer alot of job choices. He's a med lab tech and it just so happens that's what he was gonna go to school for. The air force is by far the best branch of service to serve in. I was in the army reserve for 4 years and the setting is totally different. |

Someone very close to me joined the Air Force - the experience was a mixture of negatives & positives. Negatives: You WILL have to take orders & get used to no privacy; you do not have an easy way out if you change your mind about enlisting; you have to get used to being away from family & friends for long periods of time; time for actually pursuing your degree is not as easy as it is portrayed - it really depends on how your Air Force job hours are (some jobs change hours constantly).
Positives: If you must join the Armed Forces, then the Air Force, in my opinion, is the best branch to join; A lot more mind manipulations are used more than physical exertion; accomodations for Air Force enlistees are generally much better than those in Army and other branches. |

Being in the military myself not too long ago and having a few close friends in the Air Force I say it was a great experience. My advice is to make sure you are GUARANTEED the job YOU want before you sign anything. Only downside to the Air Force is that their air fields are sometimes in the middle of nowhere. One very good upside is that you have less of a chance of being injured compared to other forces.
Overall, income is mostly disposable, get to travel, get money for college and it is a great experience. Met a lot of great individuals. |
