Is it also a sin to be a fairly wealthy person if you've worked really hard for your money? For example if I was working at a career job I would like to make good money and reward myself for my hard work but at the same time I would like to help people out along the way, I'm currently working at Shopko and I've been working there for over 6 years, I'm not there just for the money and I do like the work I do at Shopko but I would like to accomplish more out of life and I would like to be able to live on my own, own a new car, have some nice clothes and go on vacations once a year. |

no it's not as long as it is honestly earned. What makes it a sin is when you become haughty because of your riches and you treat those around you bad.
If you are wealthy and live humbly(which it sounds like you do) then there is not a thing wrong with it. The Lord looks at your heart and he looks at how well you treat others. :)

It is no sin to be rich, however what you do with your money is what causes sin. Being greedy is a sin but providing for yourself is not. I like what you said about sharing your wealth. That can be money or knowledge by lifting somebody else up. |

I assume you ask that question as to the Biblical statement “It is easier for a rich man to fit through the eye of a needle that through the kingdom of heaven” (May not be exact I am going from memory) I believe the meaning of this is that all too many people with money do not tide or help others. Tiding Is a means of giving back some of your good fortune to help others. In my opinion you can have a good job or be self employed or just being successful if you Tide and do the right things the answer will be in the The bible and Church of your choice,, but not on Yahoo. Good transportation a vacation and a nice home do not mean you are a bad person.. If you are wise enough to get an education or are lucky enough to find the right opportunity or both it is ok. It is what you do with your life after that that counts. |

No, no, no. I personally will never have the problem of wealth, but it is certainly not a sin to be wealthy.
The point that the scriptures make on this subject is that it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into Heaven.
The Needle's Eye was an entry point into Jerusalem where a camel had to crouch down on its haunches to crawl through, and very difficult. It is not, however, the HAVING riches that makes it difficult, it is BEING rich that presents the problems.
Greed. You cannot serve two masters. Either you serve God or you serve Mammon (spirit of greed). wealth tends to take away from Godly obedience, quite simply. Not necessarily, however.
Also, it is good to note that no good deeds gain you entrance either, merely the faith in Jesus Christ, accepting that He is Son of God. So, careful there, too!
