I keep getting mail, which are demands for money and bailiff letters but the person does not live at my address. Can I open the letters to respond fully? Return to sender obviously is not a deterrent

I had this situation when I moved into here four years ago the family told me they were moving to france and gave no forwarding address but mail came +++ which i redirected back to sender until they started to come postcard style making it obvious from bailiffs stating they would break and retrieve goods to the value if I did not respond I called them and proved I was not this person and had to show proof and I spoke to them and legal consent was given to me to open any further letters address to either of them and call the companies they eventually tracked the couple down and I do still get demands from companies but I have legal permission to pass this info on as they are frauds and putting me at risk so call the company and get some advise I know how scary it feels the thought of someone forcing entry into my home for something I am not involved in good luck

i think it could be illegal i would suggest when you recieve it put a cross through the address and write at the side of it not known at this address i have been in my house for two years and we still get mail for people who arent us

obviously you are opening them or you wouldn`t know what they contain, but yes it is illegal

just call the company its sent from and tell them the person doesnt live there anymore, why do you need to open it?

Well if the envelope has an address on it then i wouldnt suggest you opening it. Just right

Yes it is illegal. If there is an address on the back, ring them and tell them that the person does not live at your address any more, if not return to sender is about the best you can do.

I think legally you shouldnt be opening their mail but maybe you could claim to have opened in error - if you have kids blame them.
