You can write a check on my left nut if you want, but i know from experience you'll have a difficult time trying to cash it at Wells Fargo. But I'm not saying they won't cash it. |

Yeah, it's legal as long as the accounting, routing # and your signature are clearly legible. And can be vertified. But just go order some checks, they're not expensive. |

You can write a check on your sleve as long as it has the Routing number and account number name of bank signature date, the person to who your giving the check to amount in writing and numbers there you go! now people won't accept it that's the only problem, I work at a bank, I've never asked this question |

Strangely enough it is. A check is nothing more than your authorization for funds to be taken from your account and given to a payee. Your "napkin" should also include a payee and your original signature. The payee will need to endorse the item before depositing/cashing.
That being said, expect a lot of scruitiny from your bank before they cash it. |

you can write a cheque on a raw egg if you want but you are going to have a hard time getting anyone to cash it. |

It can be done, but it will require special handling on the banks part. They may need to send it by mail for collection and those fees will go to you to do that.
It may also be hard to find a bank that will take the time to do all this for you. It's alot a work on their part. |

no, only a bank certificate.."check" is legal..if it was legal to write our own checks on napkins or paper, then we would not need a check. It also prevents fraud, people making there own checks with your account on them. |

it probably isn't illegal but a bank won't cash it... hence all the security features on a check to prevent fraud.. i don't think your napkin has watermarks and copy-proof ink. |

I doubt if you would get very many people to take your check, I know I would not be that dumb. Call the US Treasury Department, they will be more than glad to assist you , regarding this information. |

Yeah call the treasury department, im sure they would be glad to talk to some yahoo trying to write a check on a tv dinner box.
me and a friend got into a heated argument about this. i think it can be done but like every one else is saying, good luck finding a bank that will take it |
