Is it normal for a 1 year old to cry when grandma leaves?

Yes it is normal, The child feels the loss of that energy being there. It's a great thing that the child cries, it means that the child is expressing emotion

When my nephew was at my house (I live with gRAndma), my nephew would say, as his parents pulled in the drive, he would say, "oh no, not already" so there is usually a whole lot of spoiling going on at Grandma's

it means that baby adores the grandma.

of course! it is a child going thru seperation anixtey. if her/his grandma comes back often, tell them "grandma is leaving, but you will see her again" this helps your child know and understand that a person will come back, that they arent gone forever. also when you leave tell them, "mommy/daddy has to leave, but i will be back" also playing peek a boo is a good way to help seperation anixtey. showing them "im gone, Im back" with yours hands, a blanket, or anything else. your children will start to understand that once someone leaves, they will return.
