First off, this is YOUR baby girl, not your parents. You can name your baby whatever you like.
I don't see why Mary-Jane wouldn't do. Yeah, sure it's a nickname for pot, but big frickin' deal. There was a kid in my class named Bruce Lee, he was not into martial arts or even very athletic, but when someone says Bruce Lee, I still think of him instead of the martial artist at first. My point is that your little girl will put her own stamp on her name - when someone says "Mary-Jane" it'll be HER they're thinking of and not some stupid plant.
It also happens to be a very pretty name. :) |

Well, this is simply based upon my opinion..so no hard feelings...Personally, I believe the name is very old fashioned, plain, & simple...and it makes me think of marijuana....However, it's your baby, so name her anything you like & don't worry about what others think. :) |

It's classy - your parents are thinking with their minds in the gutter. It is a slang term for marijuana, as I'm sure you know, but you just have to make sure she grows up with a good nick name - like Mary, or Jane, but not both at the same time. |

the baby is your child and the name is your choice. If you're naming the child that because you like the name great. If you're naming the child after your choice of drugs that's not such a hot idea. |

um... if you're a pot-head, they might think it suggestive. but i know a number of mary janes and none of them are into pot, so i don't think it's a big deal.
