jonnicarreiro | Is it true that lightning has already hit the ground before you see the flash or streak? |
|

MrChili
|
Since lightning is produced from the ground up, yes, it is on the ground before you see it. |

Leaving out human reaction time and the few miliseconds it takes your brain to process the image your eye see, the answer is no. Light travels so fast that the time difference between the lighting strike and the light from it reaching your eyes is so small that I would consider it happening at the same time. |

Lightning (the dangerous charged Lit-up part of lightning) actually travels from the GROUND to the sky... so yes, it is true.
A bolt of lightning usually begins when an invisible negatively charged stepped leader stroke is sent out from the cloud. As it does so, a positively charged streamer is usually sent out from the positively charged ground or cloud. When the two leaders meet, the electric current greatly increases. The region of high current propagates back up the positive stepped leader into the cloud. This "return stroke" is the most luminous part of the strike, and is the part that is really visible. Most lightning strikes usually last about a quarter of a second. Sometimes several strokes will travel up and down the same leader strike, causing a flickering effect. This discharge rapidly superheats the leader channel, causing the air to expand rapidly and produce a shock wave heard as thunder. |

yes because you cannot react as fast as it travels. 186000/ft second |

Its more probable than not. Remember this. Lightning can also indicate true love for when it strikes the heart, its like seeing the face of your queen with glowing embers of delightful passion. Good luck and much wisdom. |

For all purposes, lightning comes from the ground. In electronic theory, electricity flow from the negative pole to the positive pole. The ground is the negative pole, therefore, lighning comes from the ground up to the clouds. |

First you hear the sound and then the lightning hit the ground the light that you see in the sky is when the lightning is traveling. |

Lightning actually strikes from the ground up,the leads are there but you can't see them but you would feel like ants were crawling on you just before you got hit then you see it it's an allusion that the lightning is striking down because it is to fast for your eye's |
