Angrygirl5 | Is it worth selling my stuff on Ebay? |
I have been shopping on Ebay for a few years and love it. I have a bunch of stuff in my storage shed that I would like to sell, but seriously, I don't know if I want to deal with the aggravation of shipping, buying packing materials, taking stuff to UPS or post office. Also, I really don't want to deal with non-payers, etc. Most of my stuff is home decor stuff that is in good shape, but sick of them. For example, I had a brightly colored tropical fish themed apartment for many years and I am just sick to death looking a fish stuff. Is it worth it? I could use the money, but I work two jobs, so I don't really have a lot of time to deal with all of the packing/shipping. Additional Details I know about the "I Sold It On Ebay Store." I called them and they said that each item has to be at least worth $30 or $40 and they take 30% of the profits. I have lots of stuff, but most of it is small inexpensive things. |

I know exactly what you are saying. Advertise on craigslist. It's more local so no shipping and it's FREE! |

there are places that will sell your stuff for you. they will sell, pack and ship it off for you. the only downfall is that it will cost you a little of your profit. the name of the place in my area is "i sold it on ebay" check your local yellow pages for a store in your area. you can use yahoo yellow pages on the home page. |

if not, you may wanna try www.craigslist.com , it's free to post your ad, and although there is no bidding, you can set your price and people can come pick up from you , or you can meet them somewhere, which saves on your shipping hassle
good luck |

Sounds like eBay is not for you. My advise is to visit a few antique malls in your area. Rent a small booth for a few months to get rid of your stuff.
It's great. You rent your space, Price your items and they complete the transactions and you pick up a check.
If it is a good antique mall you have to visit often as the spaces are rented as fast as they are vacated. Ask about a reservation list. |

If you have no use for it might as well make money off of it. |

I like Craigslist.org. It is free and you can click on your city. I sold one Item on E-bay and made a great profit. Next item I lost, then lost again, then made little profit. All the while I had my E-bay Identity tooken, money froze in my account and couldn't get paid. Then when I got that straightened out, I sold something else and lost again. Take Donald Trump's advice, 'Buy low, Sell high!" I personally think a garage sale would fit you! |

Don't for get the eBay fees they charge you. Its about 3% of what you sell the item for + the listing fee, not including shipping. Plus when you accept payment through paypal, which is also owned by eBay, they charge you almost 3% + .30 cents per transaction. So if you sold something for $100.00 you get charge about $6.00(6% total)+ .30= $6.30 goes to paypal and ebay + shipping and handling.
Just imagine how many closing auctions on ebay just for today. eBay is getting rich. But they do have good traffic. |

You would be surprised what sells and what doesn't.
You can try dividing your lot in several batches and selling one through a selling assistant. Ebay will help you locate one locally (like I sold it on ebay, but people rather than organizations, so no minimum). If you are honest on your description to them, they can then decide if it is worth their time or not. Then you can decide if you want to sell the rest yourself, or suing the same method as before or if you want to go to goodwill with the lot. |

try a garage sale or take it to a place that might buy stuff like that. there are a lot of places that buy cds, books, clothes, and furniture. look up consignment shops. otherwise with shipping you wont make as much. |

One suggestion is to look for a consignment shop that takes decorating ideas. You can make an appointment to have your items looked at, and you don't have to worry about the payments, packing or mailing. |

You could see it you have a "I sold it on ebay" place around you. They are a company that takes the pictures, lists the item and ships your stuff for you. I don't know how much they charge, but it might be worth looking into. |

It is only worth it if the amount you get from them compensates for the work you need to do to get them shipped etc.
I think it may be time consuming at first, but once you get a system rolling it will get easier and easier to sell stuff.
And it will clear out some room in the shed for your new purchases :) |

If you are so busy and have 2 jobs you should just sell small stuff and when you have more time you could sell bigger stuff and could pack/ship. |
