Depends on how bad you want the job. You certainly will have no chance of getting it if you skip the interview. If you can talk to the hiring manager and make other arrangements to make the timing more convenient then do that. If you are unable to make contact and really do want this job, attend the scheduled interview whether it's convenient or not. |

Just go to the bloody interview! You need a job right? Save yourself some cab far to get home or just get a bus as close as you can and walk the rest of the way! If you get the job remember you may have to do this a lot, get a pushbike! lol |

if you have an interview you are half way there, I would call her tomorrow if not heard by 11am at least you will show that you are not a person that would let her down. If the job dont work out take a look at the link on my profile you never know |

omg, look if you want the job - go to the interview, don't give us some pathetic excuse like theres no bus home afterwards. If you can get to the interview thats all the matters. have you heard of getting a lift, taxis, cycling, walking etc.?
But due to the content of this question it is blatantly obvious you DO NOT want this job otherwise you would not have asked it. |

If you skip this interview, never apply to the firm again. |

I used to be the recruitment specialist for the company I used to work for. Yes, people do skip interviews and it is the most annoying thing when you hvae rearanged your day around the interview. I would suggest phoning back tomorrow to at least let her know that you are not going to go. Manners don't cost a thing! |

Sometimes you have to skip interviews like this one if you can't arrange for transport. |

People are "no-shows" for interviews all the time. At least you had the courtesy to phone and leave a message. You are under no obligation to a company to which you have not even been hired. |

Sir,
If you can't get home from the interview, how will you get home if you get the job? It doesn't sound worth it to me. You have already phoned, which was considerate. |

It is very important to get to an interview on time. Getting there late gives a bad first impression. Do whatever you can to get there on time. |

hmmm.... if you want the job but can't handle the commute, maybe you really don't want THIS job. (in a good way - like, wouldn't this be an ongoing problem?)
I would say a message to the manager stating that you are sorry to have been a bother but that it has become apparent that the commute is going to be a problem for you would be professional and sufficient. |

If you rely on public transportation, unfortunately, but realistically, it limits your options of where you can work. It's best to look for a job you can get to in 2 or fewer bus routes. Having to transfer more than once increases the chances that you'll end up late, since one of the buses could be running late. Ideally, it's best to only have to take one bus. And then, if saving up for a car is one of your goals, you can eventually get a car and then you'll be able to drive anywhere the job happens to be, so you can look for a job anywhere in your area.
You just have to consider how important this particular job is. Any job lead is better than no job lead, so sometimes you just have to figure out a way. Taxi rides every day would be unrealistic--it would eat up almost all your wages, most likely. You could look into carpool programs in your area, but it's hard to be able to depend on such things day by day. So generally, I'd keep looking for a job you can easily get to by your current means of transportation, then perhaps save up and branch out from there. Best of luck to you. |
