The point is to vote for what you believe to be the best answer. If you believe that yours is the best the answer, then vote for it.
There is nothing technically wrong with voting for your own answer, but if you do so simply to garner additional points it defeats the entire purpose of the system.
While there are questions and answers that are (in my opinion) representing less than a real effort to seek and deliver reasonable information, it seems that most people are trying to find real answers to real questions. Recognizing that effort by awarding points is the only chance we have to support such efforts.
Again, if your answer is the best answer, yes, award the point.. |

At this point it is your right! If you don't the worst answer may be selected then anarchy would ensue. Vote for the best answer! Points are just points... so do the right thing don't be self serving.
Pay attention sometimes there is a tie and you have to re-vote.
You used to be able to thumbs up/dn as well if you won, not any more :-( |

No, it's ok unless someone else has a truly better answer then you should give them your vote. That's just my opinion, but there aren't any rules on here saying you can't vote for yourself, so do as you wish! |

I think its wrong , im not surly if it's a ban of memebership or anything like that , it seems to be legal to yahoo terms of service , i don't see anything in the guidlines saying you can't do it.
But yes i still think its very VERY wrong. here's why.
You get a whole bunch of people lined up for your question , and there expecting that your going to vote for them , thats why they take there time to look up some facts to give you a good answer.
And if you just answer the question yourself with your own answer.......THAN WHATS The POINT IN ASKING IT!!?? |
