No, neither wrong nor tacky. It helps people feel more comfortable at work and reminds them of those they love. |

If your a salesperson of some kind, I say yes it is sooo tacky! They are just trying to make you feel guilty for you trying to get a good deal.
if you work in an office or ANYWHERE else where you are not selling something, then I say GO FOR IT! Show Us Your Pictures! |

Having pictures of family and friends at work is not tacky unless the pictures themselves are tacky. Example, exhibiting a couple in a liplock or pictures of a person barely clothed may not be appropriate. Anything that takes too much attention away from people doing their work would be not be inappropriate or cool in many workplaces. |

Is it wrong to admire your family? I think not. This makes me wonder why you even asked this question. I would assume that someone at work didn't like your having pictures on your desk. Bear in mind that there IS a limit as to how many picture you should have on your desk. For a shared desk (one desk, multiple individually operated workcenters), limit yourself to one or two; for a small personal desk, no more than three; and for a larger desk, no more than five. You'd want to give the image that you care for your family without giving the image that you are a packrat. |

I'm sure a lot of people would say it's tacky...but as a teacher, it seems okay to me. My students really enjoy seeing some family photos...I have pictures of former students up, as well...and cards and other things that mean a lot to me, personally. It helps them to realize that...maybe, just maybe I don't live in the classroom, that I might have a life beyond those four walls. |

I had to look up tacky in the dictionary. Anyway, It is not a problem to put the photo(s) of your children, but it is rather not acceptable if you put the photo of your spouse |

No it is not wrong or tacky. Many, many people place pictures of their family members, friends, even pets on their desks at work. The general rule is nothing larger than a 5X7 |

I think it is tacky yes.......and I never comment nor ask questions about photographs displayed by other people ..because I don't care (usually). Seems to me that people want to draw attention to themselves or be put in a situation to brag about their family. If you see your family everyday : I do not need to see them again at work !
I might be wrong but this is my perception. |

No its not wrong of tacky - it helps to make your place of work a more comfortable and warm environment, as long as they dont take up too much space and distract you from getting work done there is no problem.
They can also invoke feelings of happiness when you look at them and remind you why you go to work every day, and also you can show people how cute your kids are and how great your hubby/wife looks! |

It's hardly wrong, but many companies have policies that frown on such things. Check with your manager/supervisor first.
From a personal perspective, I do find it tacky when desks/cubicles/partitions are plastered in personal photos, celebrity pictures, news clippings, Far Side reprints, plushies and general chintz.
Keep it small, pernsonal and classy. That way no one can complain. |
