I see your problem
We conventionally call it 12pm, but I think I understand why you're asking the question: how can noon or 12 midday be "<post> meridien" if midday <is> the meridien?
Sure, it is "post meridien" as soon as the second hand passes the 12, but at the exact instant of midday it can be neither am nor pm.
Similarly, midnight is both exactly 12 hours after midday (post meridien) and 12 hours before midday (ante meridien).... |

Noon is technically neither AM (ante meridian, or before the sun is over the mid-line), or PM (post meridian, when the sun is after the mid-line). Noon and midnight mean the sun is directly in line with the meridian.
However, this is awkward in daily use, so they ARBITRARILY made noon '12pm'. The best way I remember this is 'what would 12:01 be?' If 12:01 is AM, then midnight is 12:00AM, etc. |

My dear, 12am is the start of a new day which is normally in the middle of the night after 11.59p.m. Then obviously 12pm is noon or midday, after 11.59am. Hope that clears your mind about that. By the way, how old are you? I'm sure you studied that during pre-school or kindergartens? Maybe you are confused, nevermind about that, ok? |

12 pm and 12 am have little meaning. Midnight is both 12 am and 12 pm. It is better to use the terms noon and midnight to avoid confusion. |

Ideally, pm is when it passes noon. But 12 pm means noon. |

Noon is 12 p.m.; midnight is 12 a.m.
A.M. stands for the latin term, "Ante Meridiem" or before midday, and runs from midnight to noon. P.M. stands for "post meridiem" or after midday and runs from noon to midnight. |

12 pm
(pm stands for post-meridian, meaning after noon, and am stands for anti-meridian, meaning before noon) |

I would say that midday is actually more synonymous with "noontime" than a specific time. One having lunch at 12:45 pm for example would still be eating midday. |
