I don't think she'll get in trouble. It was incredibly stupid to bolt the dish on the TV. I would have laughed! Reminds me of the woman who was told that 2 bricks in the toilet conserved water, and got mad when the toilet overflowed. Guess nobody told her that the bricks went in the tank...ooops! Anyway, the boss may want to point out the importance of making sure the mute button is on in the future, but he probably thinks it was silly also. |

I would fire her for 2 reasons, She is not there to judge rather to folow policy and explain to the best of her ability the whys and whynot, and as dumb as the customer was she showed her lack of smarts by not using mute, as she represents a company, she needs to show her best manner
in representing or hit the bricks! |

yes she should get in trouble, some people just dont have any common sense, there usually handicap in some way. Even though it is silly she should of been a little more professional with her job. |
|

lala

She shouldn't be blamed for what she didn't do so she shouldn't get blamed. |

I think it's funny... lol |

Yes, there is no excuse for simple rudeness. Remember this. If a person is born one way and you were born a tad smarter., It still doesn't make you any better because I'm sure someone else is a tad smarter than you. Do you want to be laughed at. |
|

MissNurse

He was an idiot, but she should have acted a little bit more professional. |
|

simply_renee

She should be spoken to about this, but OMG...come on now. |

Don't worry about it. I will call him myself and tell him right to his face he is nothing but an stupid ********. |

I think you should be fired! And buy him a new TV out of your pocket. Mow his yard for the next two years and make him three meals a day. While writing on a black board, that "I am A dip Stick, and lost my job today". While wearing a funny hat that looks like a TV dish.
Selling this online/dish network, should make you a very happy person, and fill your bank accounts. |
|

YA is a sham

She should take the very light punishment her actions deserve and having learned a lesson, it should be done and over with. That is a pretty good story. |

What horrible customer service. She needs to be reprimanded than properly trained.
It is funny, I've seen stupider things, but she is a professional, and she needs to act like one.
By the way, what company does she work for? |
|

cutiepie81289
|
oops! Yes she should be reprimanded. Yeah the guy was a total idiot but she should have waited until she ended the call to laugh. |

I know many sales people and one thing they always say; You will always remember good service and possibly recommend the business to a friend. However, you will talk about the bad service you receive and make sure someone doesn't patronize a particular business because of it. |

I have to deal with customers all day who are irate in one way or another, some of them are rightly upset others are upset because of their own mistakes, but you have to treat each and every one of them diplomatically. You never know who your next customer is going to be and the old adage about one happy customers tells one person while an unhappy customer tells ten people is right on the money.
I would not fire the girl, I beleive that she knows she did wrong, but I would suspend her and make her apologize to the customer in writing.
As for the customer, I would not replace his television because he admitted to attaching the satelitte to it. No where in the instructions for a dish does it say to do this and the customer was led to doing this by his own beliefs.
Read the instructions and follow them is the lesson to be learned from this for the customer.
As for the sales rep, I have to admit that the situation is pretty laughable but never, never laugh when the customer can hear. |

no she shouldnt get in trouble. that just like when you were in grade school and the fat kid let out a big fart the teacher would probaly would laugh too. |

No your friend is not wrong!! THey shouldn't be responsible for stupid people. But it probably wasn't to cool about her forgetting to hit mute. Stupid people don't like getting pointed out!! *LOL* I hope your friend doesn't get in trouble!! ~RZ~ |

While what that man did was certainly laughable, as an employee, she has a responsibility to act right. She should be disciplined or at minimum given a warning from the company. |
|

The Princess
 |
Yeah because when u work in customer service, u are suppose to be sensitive to the customers. The business can be held liable for having bad employee's. She was wrong. |
|

|
Yes, she should. It is bad for business to insult the customers, no matter how stupid they may be. |
|

CALAVA

The guy is a moron, first for screwing up his tv and second for filing a complaint so that now everyone knows what a moron he is. |

Her boss would be insane to be upset with her. This customer was not terribly bright and the situation is EXTREMELY funny. How dumb do you have to be to do something like THAT? Most places that sell the dish and have customers insist on installation have a waiver (The Co. is NOT responsible) for them damaging their OWN equipment by not ummm...reading the INSTRUCTIONS????
I know that she had a bad day, but thank you for providing me with a laugh or two today!
Best of luck to her. Print out the answers for her boss if he/she has a problem with this situation which is NOT HER FAULT! |

Always make sure the mute is on. maybe |

funny! |
|

Ms. Kitty to the rescue!
|
Did you explain how to use it? I know this may sound silly but some people can not do the most basic things. One time I asked my friend to make me coffee and she put the water in the pot and asked me why the water wasn't turning brown.lol
Also, you should have been more professional on the phone. Sorry, but you need to deal with difficult customers because it translates into life.

Well, not saying that I would not have the urge to do the same thing, but... it was not the professional thing to do. What if that person had serious problems... |

I agree with you, the person destroyed their own property...This person has no common sense! |
|

MOM
|
Yes, she should get into trouble.First off she shouldn't tell any body what goes on at work. Second she shouldn't curse at the customer. She shouldn't put them on mute to laugh at them. |
|

itsmeee2006
|
Is she wrong? Technically,YES.( very disrespectful to let your customers know they are idiots! since they are buying the products you are selling that keep you in the black every FRIDAY)...........but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
How could you ever answer that quetion to the satisfaction of the consumer!?!?
There are 12 born every second and they all have my number!
THAT IS WHY I REFUSE TO WORK IN RETAIL OR WITH THE AMERICAN PUBLIC!!!
HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS IN HER FAVOR!!!
TELL YOUR FREIND-----------GOOD LUCK!!!! |

She was dealing with a bonehead, but unfortunately, she was wrong. But I don't think it warrants anything more than a write-up by her supervisor - certainly wouldn't fire her over it (unless she does this stuff all the time). It looks from her e-mail like she was really trying at first with the guy, but he was out to pick a fight - if the calls are monitored where she works, her supervisor should understand. |
