Hi my name is Roshan Karki,i got an email on 12th of march stating that i"ve won the lottery sum of US$200,000.from the Australian International Lottery Program held on 1st march.They said me that i"m qualified becoz of the electronic selections of winners using their yahoo email ID,thus according to them my email ID has been choosen.Further i corresponded them and i claimed to a agent named Mr.Nicholas Lopez,he too advised me to collect my sum through Union Bank of Nigeria,so later i received a mail from the bank asking my ac nummer and my scanned i.d,so far i did all those and its almost confirmed by the bank agent named Mr.Andrew Kemma,director funds remittance and cash transfer dept,UBN,plc.and now they are asking me US$360 as part of transform and stamp money which i"ve yet not paid coz.1st i doubt under UBN there are 3 major banks and they have not mentioned it,2ndly they asked me to pay the cash only thru WUmony transfer in a name of Chukwuma Irono,but not to the UBN?so?u sugst |

They have your acct. # and photo I.D. Can't they take the money out themselves :) ? Seriously, think about what you just wrote. There should have been alarms going off from the moment you read it and you shouldn't even be this far along in the process. |

These are always scams. No one has lotterys were they randomly select email adresses. Google Nigerian Email scams and you'll see what I'm talking about. Why would you have to pay $360 for a lottery you've already won ...LOL Mark the emails as spam and send the scammer a detailed message of what you think of them and what you'd like to do to their mother:) BE SMART!

obviously you are very trusting and you need to make sure that you call your bank and tell them you did something stupid so these people do not drain your account. Why would you think something like this is real?
I could give you a lecture about how you pretty much deserve for these scam artists to take all you own but I'm sure it would go in one ear and right out the other. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is and if you did not enter a contest or sweepstakes or buy a lottery ticket how could you win something? |

As far as i know the australian lottery is only run by the australian government so first of all unless it has the aussie coat of arms i wouldnt touch it.
Also if its from australia why are they using $US the aussie govt would only use AUS$

I suggest you mark this email as spam and delete it.
Rule of thumb for this crap - if you don't remember entering, chances are you're being scammed
And if you've won something...why would you have to pay that much to get it???
Please...in the future...just delete these - they are only trying to get money from you, not give you money!! |

I can only echo the words above concerning this being a scam. I am happy your email ID was chosen, because you are now in the "99% of Australian internet users who are especially privileged to be contacted by a Nigerian bank" Club. I have had a few emails from Nigerian banks before. Never bothered replying.
Another one to look out for Roshan is an email from an estate attorney in Africa saying that somebody died in a tragic accident (they were apparently related to you) and they just happened to have millions of dollars which now have to be distributed to those with claims on the inheritance. The process to get your "inheritance?" Basically the same as you described with the Nigerian bank. I have received more emails along these lines than from Nigerian banks, so watch out.
The lure of getting quick and easy money is very appealing. But it is a lure. Do you know what lures are used for? Catching unsuspecting prey. And be very careful giving identification details to people you don't personally know. The internet has plenty of identity thiefs. |
