Condensation? That's strange!! Well, basically there are only a couple things you can do. Increase the temperature of the water in the tank somehow, to prevent or reduce the condensation process, or you could find a way to reduce the humidity levels in the room where the tank is, presumably the bathroom. Humidity could be reduced by keeping the A/C on AND/OR keeping the bathroom ventilated (leave the door open..)
Alternately, you could try to insulate the tank itself, I found a website that sells insulators to put INSIDE the tank. here's the link http://www.plumbingworld.com/sweatstopper.html |

condensation is caused when hot, moist air contacts something cooler and, since cold things contract, the air loses its ability to hold humidity and the water condenses on the tank. Three things you can do:
1. Heat up the water in the toilet tank so it is the same temprature as the outside air.
2. cool down the outside air so it is the same temperature as the water tank.
3. de-humidify the air with a commercial dehumidifier.
or just wrap the tank in an old beach towel and dont worry till it starts to smell moldy.... |

This only happens to me in the summer, when I have the air conditioning on.
The water in the tank and the tank are warmer than the air in the room, so condensation occurs upon contact with colder air in the room.
Try keeping it a bit warmer in your bathroom, or put a towel down, as someone else mentioned.
I have to do that too, sometimes.
I don't know where you live. Is your A/C on right now?
I'll be interested to see what others have to say about this. |

Keep a dehumidifier in the bathroom. You can find them in the same section as the space heaters. |

1. Install a tank wall insulator. Made of foam they fit inside the toilet tank.
2. Have your plumber or handyperson hook the toilet fill line (pipe) to the hot water supply. This, of course, will use more gas or electricity for water heating, but it's a permanent solution.
Note: Running a dehumidifier or cranking the a/c also gobbles up electricity. I didn't find this technique practical. |

Oh my! This is an issue in our house too! I sure hope you get an answer - cause this is great question!
It is so much condensation here that we have a towl under it. - I have tried our bathroom fan - doesnt work...maybe its not powerfull enough. |
