sx24 | Is this email real or fake? |
I get email from Bank of America, saying --
We recently have determined that different computers have logged onto your Online Banking account, and multiple password failures were present before the logons. We now need you to re-confirm your account information to us.
If this is not completed by February 05, 2008, we will be forced to suspend your account indefinitely, as it may have been used for fraudulent purposes. We thank you for your cooperation in this manner.
To confirm your Online Banking records click on the following link:

Thank you for your patience in this matter.
Bank of America Customer Service.
Lagos, Nigeria
However, i do not have any account at Bank of America.
I have my checking and saving account in a credit union. So then why Bank of America emailed me? |

if you don't have an account then it is fake. Just delete it. If you get it again goto bankofamerica.com (straight to the real site) and go to customer service to resolve the issue if it is really them. |

100% is fake |

It's fake. Here's how you can tell:
The email is providing you with the link to click and enter information.
If you are worried about your account, call the bank. |

Fake. Specifically, it is what is called "phishing". Check out B of A's web site (do NOT use the link in the message!), and find out where to report activity of this sort. Then forward the bogus message to that site. |

It's a fake, dear. They are called "phishing" schemes, and if you'd gone to Bank of America's website, they actually have a warning up about this. |

Well, obviously a scam. Do you really think this is for real? I've got some cheap swamp land and for sale. |

I am sure you have heard it a million times do not give out your password or any personal info. If you are in doubt about an email call bank. This is a scam. |

this has been going around. Alert BoA that you've gotten this email. Forward it to them and let them deal with it.
Obviously a scam. Good thing you didn't fall for it. |

Don't even click on the link. It probably contains a virus of some sort. Even if you did have an account with them, I would contact Bank of America. You ALWAYS have to call to reset any kind of internet banking issues.
Plus, Bank of America isn't based in Nigeria. |

It's fake. You answered that yourself when you said you don't have any accounts with B of A.
Read up on phishing and learn to protect yourself. |

This is fake!! Don't fall for it. When you "confirm" your records, you are giving away your information to who knows who. I contacted my bank when I received this msg, and they said they would never want their customers to give personal info. via email or phone. Delete this email and report it to as a spam mail!! |
