Is this some sort of scam or hoax?
I've recently been receiving calls from a company that claims I have paid for a trip to Disney World back in 2004. They claim I owe them $300. I have never heard of this company nor have I signed up for any such offers. My caller-Id reads "Global Promotions" ,but for some reason I am never able to call them back to get further information. They have been repeatedly calling my home. Do you have any information on any such company or any scams that sound like this?
Additional Details
The last call I received from them was a very rude woman who said:
"Fine, you'll be billed the $300." She then hung up on me.
This was after me saying that I didn't know what she was talking about.
I'm sure they'll be calling back. They've been calling for weeks now and I've tried to ignore every call ,but now I just feel harassed.

Yes, it's a scam. You would remember if you bought a trip to Disney World, I'm sure. They are trying to soak you for money. The next time they call, ask for their Dunn & Bradstreet number. Or tell them you are going to call the Better Business Bureau. Demand that they give you tangible proof of the purchase and for God's sake, don't give them ANY personal information. That is what they want. They are trying to get your checking account number, social security number, anything of yours. These types are the worst. Fight back!!

It would be very interesting to find out how this "company" obtained your details. Anyway you would know if you had been paying off a trip even back in 2004 - so you would know if you owed anyone any money.

Bottom line - this sounds like a scam. Send no money and offer no further details or contact. They will either get sick of trying to contact you or they may try to get nasty. If this happens; contact your attorney and go from there.

*No Doubt*
Its a scam...hey..you question"No Doubt facts"was a good question but unfortunately i couldnt answer it

Don't call them!!!! Just ignore it. There are some numbers that if you call them you can be charged thousands of dollars. I had some jerk when I was younger sending me bills for a stuffed marlin I never bought, ignoring him finally worked.

Also get the number and contact your secretary of state office. ;-)

It's an identity-theft scam. When you finally get in touch with them, I bet they ask for some personal information - to "confirm" your identity. Then they're off and running.

The next time they call, tell them you want to be on their "do not call" list - they try to make you think that you're a customer, because then they're allowed to call you - but if you tell them to put you on the do not call list and they call you again, you can file against them.

Contact your state's Attorney Generals office. They should have an office that deals with these kinds of consumer issues. Don't pay them a cent or give them any personal information! Sounds like a stinky scam to me.

plr2win
I wouldn't get your shorts in a bunch over this. They are just skimming the cream and ripping off those that will pay up without screaming. I would scream and demand proof.

ask them to mail the contract to your attorney and you'll never hear from them again.

This is an old scam.

Don't give them any information about you.

Get their name and address and phone number and say you are busy and will call them right back, and report them to the attorney general of your state.

S C A M ! Don't even try to contact them. If you have an answering machine, screen your calls for a while, they'll get tired of calling. If you do happen to get to talk to them, get as much information about where they are located, a contact name and number, and tell them you'll call them back. But do not, under any amount of pressure, give them any information about you, your bank account, your address or anything. Then give the information to your local police. You may not be the only one being harrassed by them.
