Absolutely. If you look at the fav animal question I answered. My theory is that we are second or third on the list, at best.
I've got to go, my cat is calling me. |

Actually it is because man is more intelligent. No other animal is intelligent enough to do the classifying. |

No, man is the highest because it kills everything. |

man doesnt classify because man is a superior class. |

Yes. So far I don't see any lions, monkeys, lizards, eagles, or dolphins starting a zoo or teaching at a college. LOL |

I maintain that cats are the highest form of animal life...humans cater to them, and they still do whatever the hell they want. Pretty sweet deal... |

What other animal can do the same as us? |

We are on top because we organize together, better than the other species! I need not say more. |

Man is the only animal able to classify |

Actually, science doesn't classify man as the highest form of animal. Some people unfamiliar with science pretend it does, and at one time that was done to satisfy those who didn't like the fact that man was being associated with animals scientifically, but that was a long time ago. No man is not better than the animals, though he is better at some things, as some of them are better than man.
However, overall, I'm on man's side. |

Yeah but it's like being the banker
in monopoly–when the others are too
young to read; you don't have to be
dishonest to win.
Questioner says;
"If the shoe were on the other foot, and humans had to excel in the forest, or ocean, or wilderness, as other animals do, we as a species would fail miserably."
But we didn't, we rose to a position of control, explain that.
Also it defies logic that we could put a monkey through in IQ test. The monkey's answers would have no difference statistically from random, even if he would color in the bubbles right. Because monkey's can't read!
Dolphins and whales can't apparently read either.
You could make an argument that dolphin pings are "more complicated language" but I think that it is far-fetched
Maybe they just have ADD (apologies) really bad and haven't
been able to code out a Rosetta stone for us! Naaa.
Marhalie: I went on a wicked A_trip about that once. |

If man has the ability to do the classifying that should tell you something...or am I wrong!!! |

Ooo...Excellent question and yes, I agree. The more man learns the less he seems to know. Our measurements are based only on our 'vision' of what intelligence is. Who is to say the Blue Whales aren't vastly more intelligent? They live a life completely foreign to us, how do we establish intelligence of creatures we know so little about?
How can we, who haven't even figured out how to live peacefully with one another, be judges of intelligence in other organisms? Argh! Guess this is not a terribly good answer huh? |
