Even the logic principles that you learn in math will be used for the rest of your life. Simple, but problem solving is an extremely important skill to know. Learning simple things like solving an equation helps provide those building blocks. |

I think that basic mathematics is important and knowing how to finance a budget is important but I don’t think that you will use mathematics such as algebra or calculus in everyday life unless you are planning on becoming an engineer or a mathematics teacher. |

basic math, yes. beyond that, well it all depends on what you want to be in life. i'm studying to become a machinist, & there's a lot of math dealing with that. but for everyday life, work aside, only the basic adding subtracting & a little bit of fractions & decimals is all one needs. |

yes math impacts almost every part of our lives....and I suck at math......in school....years and years ago.....I didnt think that I would ever need it again... I wanted to be a sailor...lol so now I am a merchant marine.. and boy do you need to know math....cant navigate with out it..peace. |

Math is probably the most important class I took in school and I am 58 years old. I am retired but I still use it every day. My wife is an accountant and when she went to school they were allowed to use calculators and she can't do math with out and I think that is a shame. Ever see the show "Numbers" on abc on Friday nights? |

Every thing in life is some how related to math. It is necessary to know how to double or half recipes, plan meals (how many people do you need to feed and plan accordingly), balance check books, set up a budget (what can you afford), etc. The medical field, engineers, architects, surveyors, sales personnel, landscapers all need math to do their jobs. Besides English, Math is the other necessary language. |

Basic math is VERY important. Throughout your adult life you will need to make large purchases like cars, a home, etc. and people out there take advantage. You need to know if what they are offering you makes sense. Think about showing 2 pennies to a small child who has a dime in his hand. And you say you can have 2 of my pennies if you give me just your one dime. If the child is really small he will not understand that what he has is worth 8 cents more than what you have and you'll be able to convince him to trade. Well, that is what the world is like, banks offering loans, mortgages, and trying to take advantage of consumers who don't understand things like interest, etc. Even now when you go to a store a cashier may take advantage and not give you the right amount of change. So your best off understanding the basics. Of course you don't have to know areas like calculus unless you are going into a field that requires it. And even some things in high school math might not be absolutely necessary for life such as doing geometry proofs. But they do sharpen your thinking skills and can be fun if you put your mind to it. But most other high school math is extremely important just to get by in the world without being a sucker! |

Math is actually REALLY important. Without math, the world would be chaos. You wouldn't be able to tell which team won a baseball game. There wouldn't be computers or any modern technology. The point system on this site would be completely screwed up, and this site may not even exist. We wouldn't be able to tell time or find our size of shoes and clothes. We would have no way of measuring anything, so we wouldn't have road maps, buildings, or speed limits (which could lead to a ton of car accidents if cars can even be made without math). As much as I myself hate math, it's one of the most important things in basic life. |

yea theres a million things youll need math for i hate math but last year we did a project and got 376 different answers and that was just half the grade so sorry but ya it is crucial ! |
