Madam or Madame???
When addressing a letter is it Sir/Madame or Sir/Madam? With or without the e???
if you use it to address to a lady as a Madame, it sounds to me a bit like she is Landlady or the 'Madame' of a brothel
it's more like a woman who manages some public house or something like that...(maybe I am wrong)

It's without the 'e' - with the 'e' is the french spelling and all they did was invent the word!

In English Madam, in French Madame.
Had this question and problem when working a few years ago!
zanthus
without the e
bibsian
this is a tricky one nowadays
some women go mad if you call them madam , or miss , or mrs
i got a letter back from a job application that i had put madam on and they replied
" i dont work with prostitutes " my title is ms
the safest way is to address it to
" to whom it may concern "
all the best

Definetly without.

Without the e. Madame is pronounced differently, with the accent on the DAM. i.e. madam is MADam, madame is maDAM. Get it?
