tra73001 | My 4 yr old son was left alone on the playground at preschool, told us it was HUMAN ERROR ! what can we do ? |
On top of that they sent another parent(stranger to my son) to get him , I called a police officer that i no and he said cause he didnt get hurt, there was nothing we could do, we even called every lawyer in our phone book and they said the same thing ! This just doesnt make sence to me, why is ther nothing we can do ? why cant we get help ?
If "I " as a parent would have done that(not that i would, cause i love him more then life),children and youth services would have taken him and i would have gotten a fine or even jail time ....I dont understand, can someone PLEASE help me ? :( |

people do make mistakes you know. It probably WAS human error. the kid is fine, nothing happened to him just drop it! If you did the same thing and nothing happened to the kid, nobody whould have done anything to you... |

I feel for you, at very least you would think someone would get hit with a negligence charge... I would be looking for a new preschool.
When it comes to our children we simply cannot let it be Oh sorry No harm No foul...
I think that I would also be putting a call in to the dept. of education to see if they could do anything or direct me to state licences board for preschools...I think there must be something that can be done.
Good Luck |

I think the question is: What do you want? Do you want the school to be closed? Do you want some sort of money from them? Do you want your tuition money back? Do you want them to agree that it won't happen again?
In reverse order:
I'm sure they'd be happy to promise that it won't happen again.
They probably will not have to return your tuition money. They actually provided substantially all the services they promised.
As you have found out by calling lawyers, they do not owe you damages. No harm was done to you or your son. Sure, harm COULD have been done. But it wasn't. End of discussion.
But if you just want to get the school in trouble, you may file a report with Child Protective Services (or DCFS or DFACS) in your area. They will do an investigation and may find the school guilty of child endangerment. This may not actually mean anything but it may interfere with their licensing and cause the school to close. If, of course, you want the school closed. |

There was no abuse or neglect. Did he suffer, or are you the one getting all emotional about the whole thing? You can't be sure about the fine and jail time, but if you really want to use the system, thanks from all the single parents who are really trying and will have this neglect thing to worry about. |

If you have not suffered damages, there's not much you can do. Mistakes do happen. Get over it. Your anger is hurting you more than the people you are angry with. |

Your son is OK, so really there is nothing you can do. Actually, it is done and over with, so please give it a rest. The preschool administration is probably well aware of how you feel. You should perhaps get to know the "stranger to your son" other parent and at least THANK THEM and get to know him better and become friends so that person is better familiar to your son. If that person has a shady past, which I strongly doubt, then you'd have more to gripe about should a repeat incidence happen again. But the chances are, that parent is going to turn out all right. It is best to calm down and put the incident behind or find a different preschool. The current one may develop an opinion about how you reacted to that situation. There is nothing else anyone can really do. Be thankful your son is OK. |

If he wasn't hurt, there's nothing you can do except maybe find another school. |

Mistakes happen...sorry it happened to you. Count you blessings that nothing bad happened to him. Pull him out of that preschool. Try to see if you can report it to the Better Business Bureau and then move on. You feel violated, and you should. Power of word does get around. Good luck. |

You need to call the corproate office of the preschool and let them know what happened, and request a meeting with the director of your preschool. This is a serious no no in their line of work and they know it. Do not just let them slide!! Request that the teacher(s) in charge of your son at the time are written up, and make sure that if there is a business owner who is involved with the preschool on a personal level, that they attend the meeting with you so you can express your concerns. |

I know that as a parent myself it seems that social services and other protective agencies seem to be evil and all powerful but your statement as to wether it was you that did that you would be in trouble , I think is inaccurate. They may talk to you but that by itself wouldnt cause any legal action. As to your question specificly, I do not know if it is the same everywhere but Preschools are not part of the school district and are private business. If this is true you hurt there business. Some simple things are to write a letter to the editor of your newspaper to make it public. Maybe find out that this isnt a one time thing. Let others know so they can be educated and the voice of one can hopefully turn into the voice of many. |

There's not a lot you could do except make a big fuss about it and send letters and make phone calls to everyone at the school. If you make a fuss they'll be more careful next time |
