Oh my gosh! Did she asked to be PAID to take care of you growing up?! Get a life and take care of your mother! It isn't her fault she is disabled and I can't believe you would ask such a insensitive question! Take care of your mother....God forbid you get into a terrible accident and have to have someone take of you.....I am so ashamed of you. |

I'm sure that Social Services has something, but you would have to be trained and certified. OR you could just step up to the plate and take care of your MOM cause you LOVE her!! |

Dont listen to these fools. I do get paid to take care of my elderly Mother. I get $8.85 an hour for 40 hours a month. It is through the county and the group is In Home Suport Services. |

i understand what you're going thru. Don't listen to the hard nosed jerks, they obviously never had to deal with the financial burden of taking care of someone who eeds constant attention medical or otherwise. Keep track of your expenditures and time. If mom, can't pay you, don't worry. You may be able to collect out of her estate after she passes if you have accurate records and she has not already willed everything to you. |

Not paid, but you may be eligible for tax breaks. This is a pretty standard deduction many 20-30 something people take if their parents are dependents. Talk to a tax advisor or go to Taxact.com |

I think I understand your question if taking care of your mother is a full-time job, which you can't create any other income to provide for her or yourself. If you're just being selfish may God help you |

Give the man a break he may have bills to pay and looking after his mother means he may not be able to work we have all got to eat. In the UK in that situation you would get paid by the goverment to care for her,but i havent a clue what help you could get in the US. |

thats a matter of your dignity, do you really want to be paid to help your own mother?... shouldn't it be a given that you should already be helping her? |

Here's my thing, I have the same question and I can't find an answer. I'm only asking because we've run out of money and the cost of my mom's chemotherapy and meds have drained my bank account as well as hers. She can't work because of the terminal cancer and I can't work because I'm a full time student and I have to take care of her so I quit my job. We have no money left, between her treatments and meds and my insulin (I'm type 1 diabetic), we're looking at having to sell the house or go bankrupt. We live in Oregon, so if anyone knows the rules and regulations, I'd love to be informed.
I'm not being insensitive and charging my mom or the government to take care of my mom, I'm doing it because we're sinking and we're about to lose everything and I really can't find much information about my options. All of you who are judging the person who first asked this question are ignorant, stuck up snobs who probably haven't ever had to deal with the world shitting on you like this. |
