Try cleaning it in warm soapy water, and using some neosporin on it. Don't use peroxide as it can actually slow healing time. If it is hot to touch, he is running a fever or the swelling/redness gets worse, then you need to have it checked out ASAP...if not, then you can continue to treat it at home, keeping it clean...If it is not a open cut, leave it uncovered after the first 24 hours as healing time will be quicker. If after a couple 2 or 3 days of home treatment it doesn't show improvement, gets worse, or any of the other symptoms I mentioned show up, take him in to be looked at, he might need an antibiotic. |

clean it up and use lots of hydrogen peroxide. cover it with Neosporen and keep a close eye on it. If by tomorrow it is still draining, take him in. |

Soak his thumb in Epson salt and warm water. This will draw the infection out. Rub some neosporin antibiotic ointment on it and cover with a band aid. Do this for a couple of days. If you see the infection is not going away, then I would seek medical advise. |

Wash with warm soap and water. Pour Hydrogen Peroxide over it. Bandage loosely, and take him to get medical attention. |

you should see a doctor or go to you local herbal store and have them take a look at it who knows maybe alternative medicine can treat it but you do need to take your son somewhere to have it looked at |

Depending on how long its been and how red the finger is. If its the tip of the finger around the nail it was probably caused by a hangnail. I would sterilize a needle and clean the finger very good. Use the sterilized needle to release some of puss, you may have apply some pressure to get as much out as you can. Afterwords, clean the area w/ peroxide and wrap w/ atnibiotics. Repeat for the next day or three. When the swollenness goes down and the redness fades it should be getting better. The skin wear the infeccion was may come off. If things remain the same in three days and if redness increases right away or has already increased to near the hand, get him to a doctor right away. |

I think you should first rinse it under a tap, bandage it (not too tightly) and if it gets worse, take him to the doctors |

By the time an infected finger is swollen, red, and draining puss... it's been my experience that he'll need an antibiotic to clear up the infection. I was a nail biter as a child... and frequently had such infections... I have a lot of painful experience on the topic. Hope he's feeling better, soon. |

You should rinse it and bandage it with antibiotic ointment. If it doesnt get any better within a week or so call a doctor or take him in. |
