Nationwide are going to stop people withdrawing less 30 pounds in the branch. Don't you think this is unfair?
And indeed unjust, if say your on a low income, a pensioner or homeless and all you only have less than 10 pounds in your account - then they're going to stop you - when its your money they're keeping from you!

What if you need to buy essentials, have no food in or need to use a few quid to pay of a bill. I think this way of working is wrong and am considering closing my account with them.

Does sound a bit daft. However I dread to think how long the queues outside the ATM machines are going to be with lots of old folks dithering as they try to remember their pin numbers.

take your business elsewhere, i have just opened a nationwide account and think the service is great, and by cutting down on silly admin helps my building society make more money, stay in business and offer better rates.

They can run their business any way they like. You can take your business elsewhere.

Have you considered that you, and people like you, closing your account is exactly the response Nationwide want?

the halifax stopped letting you withdraw anything under £300 in the branch a long time ago, they expect you to use the cash machines

skip chick
I didnt know that, they take the piss, its your money and you should be able to have as much or little as you like, and, like you say, you might need that £30 thats stuck in there! Gits.

TARDIS Girl
Then you don't withdraw money from the branch, just get £10 from the cash mashines. Duh!

well the less well off person who draws these tiny amounts is hardly the kind of person the bank wants as a customer, so they are not worried about your problems... You can draw small amounts from a machine, £10 I think... Post office might be the best place,

nanof2sue
I haven't heard this, I'm a customer and have been for many years, I think this idea is wrong and will only encourage people to take out more money than they need, we all know that once the money is in your purse/wallet it doesn't last long. I only take out 10/20 quid at a time because I don't like carrying cash around.

can they do that???

That's hardly fair. So many people need to withdraw less out

"They can run their business any way they like. You can take your business elsewhere"

So how do you get that only £10 out to take your business elsewhere (assuming you have no card)?

"they expect you to use the cash machines"

Fine if you have a card. Many don't
