First off, buy a typing program (one that teaches you to type fast) and a book that teaches you how to use Microsoft Office. Get those skills in order and you can do hundreds of office jobs that pay not a whole lot greater than a good waiter would make but you can move up. Your best bet is to go to college and get some kind of degree, or pick up a trade like automotive technician, etc. There is no easy way to make money. |

My husband's first job besides restaurants was a car sales man. He made good money and he got to dress up every morning for work! :)
Also I would try lawyers offices,police stations,pet hospitals,or any type of office someone is always looking for someone to answer the phone for them.

My suggestion is to go to a temp agency. (They offer full-time permanent work as well, not just temp work)
Now, when I went to Lofton Staffing Services, they required me to take a few tests on Word, Excel, Typing, and Grammar, so I'd recommend making sure you're familiar and up to par with all. Once you do that, they take it from there and find a job for you. They offer benefits until you're able to get benefits with a job and such. It's a great idea, just try it. They know more about which clerical jobs are available anyway. I did it, but right after I decided to, move so I wasn't able to take any jobs. Good luck.
Edit: Oh, and most don't require you to have more than a high school diploma; and out here in Louisiana they start off at $10/hr.

Go sign on the army, good pay secure job. You won't spend your money as food and transport is provided. Training is given, promotion is secured. Many health benefits. Many social benefits. If I can go back time at your age I certainly do that. If you don't like military, join up pharmacutical companies good secure jobs with big yearly bonus.
You must go out there and get it nothing will come to you by just sitting in front of a computer. |

i had to go back to school...unfortunately that's probably what you'll have to do too...you can get certifications for pretty cheap but i dont think many places will hire you with just that anymore...places you may want to look into that you can get without school is cook at a lower chain restaurants, post office, sanitation, truck driver, dog grooming, management...all those are career orientated and most places of employment in those types will be willing to train you for free or for a work contract.
