I believe what they mean is before saying something to some one make sure it is something nice because if you say something nice it can brighten there whole day...if you say something mean or rude you may ruin there whole day... |

It's not self-explanatory?
Think about what you say because you can make someone's day? |

I think sunflower has a very good answer, but I'll delve a little further. Usually when you say something to someone (and it may be something they asked which had you speak in the first place) some people may tend to say something without: a) considering the other person's feelings; or perhaps b) say something meant to be a joke without considering the other person's reaction.
It's usually helpful to put one's self in that person's place and think about what they would rather have said to them. Sometimes a compliment or a kind word could go a long way! |

ok i'll "give you what that mean" (grammar buddy...learn to use it) it means that when you say something mean to someone, it can ruin their whole day or if you say something nice or do something nice for someone then it can make their whole day better |

It means consider how you talk to other people. What you say can make or break their day. Sometimes whether your day is a good one or a bad one can depend on one incident, or one comment. While some people may care less about what you have to say to them, others may be more sensitive and may truly be motivated and uplifted by your comments or terribly upset. |

It means that the toung is a two edged sword. One can sings praises and lift the listener to the highest heavens. One can speak poetic verse that overwelmes and amazes with tradgedy or Great Great Love. One can drive a hurting soul to Suicide. One can break the spirit of a fragile child, or the heart of a devoted follower....or Lover. You can betray your own blood or homeland with words. Or you can bring some back from darkened thoughts, or hopeless folley. This is your choice....so think before you speak! |

I would like to think that silent observer is answering your question by example there. Such a mean reply, calling you names and all, how did that make you feel? Kind of bad? and feeling bad could make your whole day bad. See? But if you had heard, "What a good question! I'm really glad you asked that, because I wanted to know the answer to that, too, and you saved me some points. Thank you so much!" Well, then you might have felt happier. and that would make your day better. That is all the little saying means: think about what you say before you say it because you have the ability to make or break another person's mood. |
