Yes. You can see the 50 states on a five dollar bill. Not just a dollar bill. You can see the picture below, although it only shows a portion of the state names, not all. |

Perhaps your friend was talking about a $5 bill. On the back of the $5 is the Lincoln Memorial, and in small print at the top of the memorial 26 states are listed (they are the states carved into the national monument that are visible from the front). Check it out for yourself. |

NO not on the $1, but if you take a magnifying glass and look at the top of the lincoln memorial on the $5 in between the pillars you find the names of all 13 original colonies. Also not counting the serial or engraving plate numbers, the number and word one appear 17 times on the $1 bill. |
