Paying a private seller 13,000 dollars?
I'm buying a car in a few days from a private party. How do I get the money out of my bank and into the sellers hands. Do I just write a check, should I get a money order, or do I do a bank to bank transfer. I really want this to go as smooth as possible without having to wait for checks to clear etc. I would just make a cash withdrawal but my banks daily cash limit is only 1500. Thanks all in advance.
You get a certified (or cashiers) check at your bank. Have the seller accompany you to the bank when you make the withdrawal, if possible. There's no need to handle any cash, and no waiting. The seller can take the check right to his bank and get his money, if he needs it, immediately.

Bank will ask you "who take 13000" and "when" and "once or some times". The cash limit does not a matter.

Do a money order or check if they will take it. That way you can cancel either if you are cheated in some way. Make sure to get a good bill of sale. Go online and download one.

cashier's check from your bank will go upto 25k or so. They cost around 5-10 dollars and you need his address and full name to give to the bank when you get you. It's not like a money order they fill it out.

you can transfer money from your online bank account to another account, its very easy and convenient, at least with bank of America.
