In the United States
1 Gallon of petrol = $3 or £1.54
1 Litre of petrol = £0.38
In the United Kingdom
A Litre of petrol = £1.09 or $2.13
The two nations (US/UK) buy from the open market, the UK would spend less on transportation and distribution bacause of it's size.

American gallons are smaller than UK gallons, but even allowing for that there is a massive difference. Any US politician who tried to charge UK levels of tax on fuel would not last five minutes. |

Yes certainly, Our wonderfull government has deemed it necessary for you to pay 65% tax on every litre as well as road tax. Good eh? Thought that might cheer you up a tad.
There should be a nation wide boycott of petrol every monday untill the powers that be start to take you seriously |

It's because the government has imposed such a high duty on fuel , and theyre not gonna lower it the greedy gits.Ever noticed how diesel used to be alot lower in price than petrol ?? ... look at the difference now.
I think the government ( those lovely souls who work for our best interests!!!!! ) NOT ! , should fluctuate the tax on fuel to offset the price increases that inevitibley occur , afterall as fuel goes up everything else sees price increases too.
This too will never happen , let alone them give us a little back by lowering the duty regardless. Our government absolutely BLOWS bigtime , and yet the yanks moan about THEIR fuel prices.
Also as far as I am aware a gallon = 4.59 litres ... im almost sure |
