Well even though you'd prefer to phone you are going to end up going to see them eventually so i would say see them in person. Also it gives a better impression. Make sure you are looking nice and dressed smart. First say hello and that you are lookinh for some weekend work. Say how old you are and list your good qualities. Try writing a paragraph or two about yourself to give them to read. Put any achievements, qualities that would be useful etc. I.e. being a people person and being friendly and chatty is ideal whilst being hardworking and not afraid to get your hands dirty shows you will be able to handle the work. Hope this helps. |

Hi there,
My name is ...... and I live locally to you. I was wondering if you are looking for any help at the weekends as I think your pub would be a nice place to work....... I would definatly go into the pub in person. People like staff who show confidence, specailly in the pub and club trade. Good luck |

wait till it's quiet (like just opened), then go to the landlord/landlady, "I was wondering if you have any vacancies at the moment"(Big Smile). Then they'll probably ask you what kind of thing your looking for, like hours etc, be brave and don't forget to smile. and good luck :-) |

Go and see them! Be nice and tidy, have a genuine smile.
Introduce who you are and explain that you'd like to help them on a Saturday/Sunday.
If you don't ask you don't get. If they take you on great - if they don't then thank them for their time and ask when they will next be taking staff on so you can come back again.
Feel positive about the whole thing and I'm sure it will go well. |

definitely go there in person. |

Going there in person is much better, and leaves a better impression. You should fill out an application even if they say they are not hiring. Be friendly and nice, and act like you don't need the job, but at the same time act like you would really enjoy it. Don't act desperate. Phoning is annoying to current employees and it is better to go in person. |

i would first hang out and "scope" the situation. find who the best person to approach. who makes the decisions . how busy are they really on the weekends. etc. or maybe just grab a beer and see if you can strike a conversation with the bartender. cheers. |

i think call. it might be easier and if u go to them they might be busy with other things and while if u phoned the it might be easier to attract attention.
be like:
"Hey. Im looking for a job on Sundays or Saturdays. Is is possible for me to work at your location?"
good luck!! |

I'd call to set up an appointment to speak with the owner or manager, but I wouldn't get all into it over the telephone. Something like:
"Hello, my name is ..... and I wanted to inquire about a job. I was wondering when or if the owner or manager would be available to talk with me in person."
They might be able to tell you over the phone right then if no positions are available or they aren't hiring. Otherwise, they'd set you up with an appointment or tell you to come right over or something.
Go in, wearing suitable clothing, and speak with the person in charge.
"Hello, Sir ( or Mam). My name is ...... and I am looking for a weekend job if you have any positions available. I live right up the road so I wouldn't have any trouble getting to work. "
Have references available, and all the information you'd need to fill out an application with. Information would include previous employers and their phone numbers/ addresses / your supervisor there, etc. Have any information they'd need to see with you at the time, such as I.D. , drivers license, etc.
Good Luck! |

Your best bet is to go there, ask to sepak to the landlord and ask if he has any weekend work going. Go just after they open, when they are not busy.
You can phone, but you are MUCH less likely to get a job. They will either take your phone number and never call you, or they will ask you to go down to see them anyway.
I'm in my forties now, but as a student I got several pub jobs. Every one was because I just went and asked the landlord directly. |

Show up, look nice, smile, be friendly, tell them you are looking for work and are a local, and are very reliable and enthusiastic, if they need help, they would have a hard time saying no....it's much easier to say no over the phone. |

If you go to see them you have the chance to make a good first impression by looking presentable and they get a chance to see what you are really like, plus it shows you are more determined by going to the extra effort. Take a copy of your Cv or a letter explaining your strong points, skills etc to leve with them. When you do get there relax, act friendly, smile and ask if they have any part time jobs available. If they say yes, great, if they say no offer your CV incase anty come up in the future. Good luck, i'm sure you'll be fine |

you may prefer to phone but they would like it more if you went in, it makes you seem more confident and outgoing, there fore be more likely to hire you, just ask if they need any staff or have any vacancies and if not give them your number for whenver they do, hope this helps you :) |

It is best to go in person. Bring a resume with you and a list of references ,3 people usually.I know you are only 14. So if you haven't had much work experience, list babysitting, clubs, interests that you have. Because of the liquor laws you may not be able to work there until a certain age. You should be showing them that you are responsible and organized . Go early in the day as it gets busy in the evening . Ask to speak to the manager,if not available ask when is the best time to speak with them. Introduce yourself and say that you are looking for work as a busperson for weekends ,let them know that you are available any time and can come in on short notice as you are within walking distance of the pub. this should help you to get an interview scheduled with the pub manager. |

Maybe... but I don't know... you could. But are there any jobs available? Maybe all of the things like taht are already taken.
But, I think you should call. Even if you don't get a job right away, they will at least keep you in mind and know that you are interested. |

Being a girl you are at an advantage as you will look better than a guy!
Just dress reasonably (no over the top painted nails and way out clothes!!!!) and go in and ask any employee who the boss is and be straight and honest with him,you are local, RELIABLE, and want a part time job.
Phoning is a cop out and will not be as positive as seeing ther boss and asking/getting questions face to face! For this type of job it is all about personalities!
Refusals hurt us all but you have to take them - if you get refused it will have given you some experience. If you get accepted you will be over the moon! |

Just front up and ask if there are any part time jobs going, quick and relatively painless. Buy me a coke when I pop in.... |

If you go in person, then they get a chance to meet you, and evaluate you as a person, and not a disembodied voice on the phone. In general you could start by saying that you are looking for work over the weekend, and inquire, if they have an opening or need. If they don't, you could further inquire if they know of any business nearby that does need help. They could be a source of referral for you. |

just go in and say "i was wondering if you were taking any staff on?" if they say no leave your name & number and ask them to keep you in mind. goood luck! |

Go in person and say just what you said here. "I'm looking for a job and I was wondering if you needed any help on weekends." |

Lolly-Ann

Ring them up, introduce yourself, sound confident.
"Hello, my name is ______, and I'm ringing regarding work at your pub. I was just wondering if you had any vacancies for a job as a glass-washer or anything along those lines?"
Sound like you know what you're talking about and be natural.
Good luck! |
