Stop and think about what you would like to see if you were conducting the interview.

First of all, arrive on time -- in fact, a few minutes early.

Dress conservatively. Wear something you would wear to church. No exposed body piercings other than ears. No purple hair. DO NOT CHEW GUM. If you are a smoker, don't smoke after your morning shower and be sure you brush your teeth. Many employers are hesitant to hire smokers because they are inclined to take too many breaks.

Don't wear too much jewelry. Don't wear too much perfume.

Look at the interviewer when you are speaking. Make eye contact, but don't stare. When you enter the room, introduce yourself and offer to shake hands.

Relax -- interviews can be as stressful for the interviewer as for the candidate.

Good luck!

Dress appropriately, no low cut shirts or dark makeup. No flip flops. Common sense.

Introduce yourself. Explain why you think you would be a great candidate for the position. What you could give to the company.

Stay positive. Never look bored, and never look like you don't know the answer to a question asked - unless you're really clueless in which case honesty is the best policy. Smile. And at the end, thank the interviewer. Ask when they will be going over applications/resumes and interviews, and when you should be expecting a call.

Be on time and smart.
Know your resume and be prepared to answer questions about it.
Prepare examples of situations where you have provided a great customer experience.
Finally, find out about the company.
Good luck!

don't wear alot of makeup (like you're going to a club) don't dress like you're going to a club either. Wear something work appropriate. Make sure you don't studder, speak up and smile! Answer questions honestly but don't give answers that make you sound like a bad choice ie;

Why did you leave your last job?
well Me and my boss didn't get along.

that is a red flag to employers! When it's time to ask questions ask them anything you find pertinant such as when do they want someone to start working? if you ask this you can answer that you are willing to start as soon as they need you! Employers like to hear a go getter, someone willing to go the extra mile. Other than that hope your resume is put together nicely and best of luck to you!

Ive recently been to a job interview and i was successful in getting the job so here is how i coped with it =]
Wear smart clothes, black pants and a smart top.
Keep your hair away from your face.
Wear makeup but not too much.
Keep smiling and present yourself as a happy/bubbly person.
After the interview give the interviewer a firm handshake.
Dont forget that the interviewer is an actual person, so try your best to connect with them.
Go into the room pretending you have already got the job, be confident, and they will love you =]
good luck!

make sure you show confidence.. and be calm and just be yourself

show them you have goals and you are not just taking this job because you have to or you need money. don't use that as excuse when they ask you questions like "what do you seek for out of this job" or "why do you want to work here"

customer service rep? you need to show them the sweetest side of you so they know you wouldn't be telling the customers to F off someday :)

Eat a good breakfast or lunch prior to the inteview. If you tend to be nervous try to relax and remember just to put your best foot forward.

It helps if you wear decent, clean, and ironed clothes. Good personal grooming is essential, and any body piercings should be, well, not displayed (tongue, naval, nose, cheek, etc). Don't wear any more than one earring in each ear (even if you have 8 holes) Same for tatoos...no employer really wants to see or cares to see 'tramp stamps'.

Be alert, well groomed, articulate and appear interested and eager to get the job. Make the impression you are very trainable and willing to learn.

When asked questions, respond but don't try to bulls__t your way thru it. If you don't know something, just say "I don't know" (and not "IDK" or other chatspeak). Be honest and straightforward.

Other than that, good luck.

Alot of good advice has been given, but I would add the following:

Dont wear perfume (different scents affect people differently, they may not like the scent or it may be tied to a negative experience, you never know)

Do your research, search the net for information on the company you are trying to get hired on with, show them you know something about them. Alot of employers are impressed when they ask what you know about them and you can give a brief synopsis of their history and know what they actually do.

Ask questions, interview the person you are speaking to without going overboard. Ask why they like working there, How long have they been there, What types of oppurtunities for advancement might be available down the road. these types of things show an employer that there is more to you then just needing a job.

All the other tips people gave above are good as well, just try to be the most complete applicant you can be and it should go well.

Good luck.

Learn as much as you can about the job you are applying for. Does the job match your personality traits? Customer service is a largly thankless job. Reps take tons of abuse, can you handle that without going off on someone, even if they deserve it? What is the company like that you are applying with? do they dress casual, or wear suits? Are you expected to conform to "safe" grooming standards? (No nose rings or other jewlrey, no exposed tattoos, etc.)
Do you have a real passion for people? Service reps want to help their customers while making the company money, can you do that?
Are you dependable? you show up for work on time all the time and if something should happen you have a good back-up plan in place so the needs of the customer and company are met?
I hate to admit this last one, but "pretty" people often do better in these kind of positions as quite frankly, the customers hardly ever want to get to know you, they just want a superficial pleasing experiance. I can't really see your avatar from here so I can't really judge if your one of the "pretty people" or not, but it is something you should keep in mind.
Good luck with your interview, remember your selling yourself to the company during the interview, and all companies care about customers to some degree, and all of them without question want to make money.

Be yourself and show you can adapt to any customer. You need to be a chameleon so show them you can be thrown in any situation and get out of it without bleeding.

You got many best advices. Follow them

Get there early. Not real early, but just early enough to get a feel for the place. This always makes a great first impression~~particularly, when going for a "customer service rep" job. How you present yourself (first impression-wise) can set the tone for the interview itself. Converse with others on the job, before you go in to see the Assistant Manager (most assistant managers are the ones who do the interview. The Manager, however, has the ultimate decision of whether to hire.)
If you have any Volunteer work, unpaid jobs, where you worked with the public, do not fail to mention this. It does look well on a resume to have this experience.
Be yourself. Show you're dependable. Smile.

Good Luck!

Where that shirt in your picture! Wow.

Seriously, as a hiring manager, tell them why you want the job, how it fits into your long term career expectations, what do you bring to the job,

how do you expected to develop professional, i.e. skills acquired, managing issues, how these will make you ready for where you want to be in five years.

Also, if you are interviewing with me, wear the shirt, if it is a lady it is better to dress a little frumpy, alot of overly serious managers would veiw a gal dressing too sexy as a distraction to co-workers so maybe my best advice on that is dress nice, unless its me, then a little or a lot sexy will be fine.
