i brought an item of clothing from ebay which was meant to be brand new however when i recieved it, the item was damaged so i emailed them straight away to tell them and they wanted me to send photos which is understandable but i dont see why i have to spend more money to prove the item is damaged as it cost a lot of money... anyway have not heard from seller for 3 days now and cant complain to ebay as the time limit hasnt been long enough... what should i do...? |

They should offer you a money back refund, plus shipping. If they don't, complain when you can to e-bay and leave bad feedback. It's a shame that sellers can be such jerks. I had a table arrive damaged, and had to provide pictures to prove the damage, but after I e-mailed the pics they did send me another table, which was super cool because my brother fixed the first table so now I have 2.... |

Why does it cost you more money to take a photo and email it?
If you've got a scanner then scan the item, and then email it.
If not, then go to Paypal and open an 'item not as described' dispute. |

1) email the seller the pics. he requested of the damage
2) tell him that if he is unwilling to make this right, that you will be filing SNAD, Significantly Not As Described.
3) give him a day or two to respond.
4) if he tells you to return the item, do so with DELIVERY CONFIRMATION and INSURANCE, keep ALL receipts!
he should refund ALL costs of the item and original shipping TO you. you will have to pay to have it shipped back to him.
5) if he doesn't work with you, file the SNAD.
after all is said and done, THEN leave feedback. never leave it before you have made every attempt at getting the problem resolved.
for future reference ALWAYS pay through PAYPAL with a CREDIT CARD!
it is the best protection. if ebay or PAYPAL can't help you, then you can file for a chargeback with the CC company.

Since you've already contacted the seller through email, the next step would depend on the method of payment you used. If you used PayPal, you may contact them directly. I believe they have a phone number for their customers. You may also send them an email informing them about your experience.
Also, you may report this to eBay through their webform. You just need to include the item number and the seller's User ID...
You may also leave feedback for the seller.. Just be sure that you enter only facts that describe how the transaction went between you and the seller.. |

Check what the return policy is. Write to e-bay (I'm sure you can write to them anyway for advice).
Check the sellers other feedback - if they have 100% positive feedback then you might well get your money back. If they have hardly used e-bay before then they may well be dodgy. Check their stats.
I would try to get the result you want (ie your money back) before leaving negative feedback. |
