You pay them via check, money order or credit card, or via an online service called PayPal.

They mail you the goods.

You rate them on the goods received and they rate you on promptness of payment. It is that feedback system that lets you know the odds of you getting ripped off.

If you are, and the goods exceed $200, Ebay will help you get your money back if you paid by PayPal. (Ebay owns PayPal.)

If you paid by credit card, you can do a "chargeback" and get your money back.

If your going to pay by Card register with Paypal...The safe way to use your card...go to www.paypal.com and it will explain it all to you

the seller takes the money money safely through pay pal never pay the seller on your own always make your purchase through eBay never outside &paypal that will very safe

Bistro
dont worry about it. the seller takes the money through paypal, an ebay company which you and the seller must be verified to even use in the first place. Its the safest way to do ebay IMO. sending money to people through the mail isnt for me. I am not saying that ALL transactions are fool proof, but certainly nothing to be concerned about you are insured for your purchases through paypal so even if something does go amiss you are covered up to like 5,000 or something like that. Ive never had a problem, not once.

eBay is the largest online marketplace and one of the most popular ways to earn an income from home with a PC and internet connection . Selling on eBay is inexpensive and easy to start. Ebay has a number of tools for sellers to maximise sales. These are eBay Pulse, Hot items report, merchandising calendar. By sourcing products at a low price, you can increase your profit. Go to eBay and read the FAQ. There are far too many details to outline in this forum.
Yes, it is safe if you use Paypal for buying and selling.

I have bought hundreds of things and never really had a problem.
I use paypal but you have to be savvy to the paypal phishing people. Never click on a link in email for paypal or ebay. it's a scam. It has been very safe for me. I love it.

Ebay works in conjunction with Paypal, which is like an online bank. You put money into your paypal account through credit card or a bank account and they send it to the sellers paypal account. No credit card information is given to the seller. ebay also owns payapl. I believe it is quite secure if you're worried about your credit card information.

each seller is different.

most will take paypal, which is very safe because the seller never sees your card numbers.
many will also take money orders or cashiers checks.

You can choose to buy from people with 100 % positive feedback and you'll be OK

Generally, the seller will not want to take money from your credit card.

Set up a funded PayPal account. It is like a bank account, and you can transfer money into it from your checking account. You then use this account to transfer money into the seller's PayPal account. This is fairly safe. Keep only as much money in your PayPal account as you think you'll need for a couple of purchases.
