Its very hard to say your chances of being caught,
Tax Evasion : Means illegally reducing your tax bill by: -
Understating your income;
Excessive claim for expenses;
Deliberately falsifying the nature of transactions, etc. In such cases you may face criminal prosecution as well as being required to pay the tax lost plus interest and penalties.
Penalties : H M Revenue & Customs are able to impose penalties where it has been established that tax has been lost through fraudulent or negligent conduct. Some penalties are for fixed amounts and others are based on the amount of tax lost. H M Revenue & Customs do however, have the ability to reduce the amount dependant upon the individual circumstances |

I don't know the likelihood of being caught, but I do know that you deserve to be caught! What makes you any different to anybody else? We're all too poor to pay our taxes, but we all do, because we have to.
Nobody wants to pay tax, why don't you grow up, start acting like an adult and do the right thing?!? |

well, you may get away with it for awhile but when the tax man does catch up with you he's not gonna be very happy penalties for tax evasion are very serious.
besides that, i don't really think the reason I'm too poor is a very good one, who isn't these days? |

Assuming you're in the UK, then you WILL be caught unless you're an illegal of course, and WHEN you do, it's all the tax you owe plus interest AND a hefty fine AND all the back unpaid N.I. due. |

Depending on how much you owe you could be done for deception or even fraud. And these carry a jail sentance.
Not paying your taxes no matter what the excuse is, is very serious. If you are having genuine problems paying, speak to the inland revenue they maybe able to help.
Everyone has to pay taxes, it's a fact of life. So call the inland revenue NOW and get it sorted before it goes to far and end up in a whole heap of trouble and in serious debt. |

you will have to pay it back eventually, my dad (self employed)paid some taxes at his local council offices years ago but they have now come to him and said these taxes were never paid, because it was over 12 years ago he obviously does not have the receipts, and they are now demanding over £2000 in taxes from him. There is nothing he can do about it now, he will have to pay it again.
P.S if you are so annoyed about people answering that don't know why don't you go somewhere where they will know officially like your CAB? this place is not a regular haunt for tax experts I can assure you, just people with experience of their own lives. |

You'll have to pay. There are records of you - National Insurance number for example, so if you don't pay that either, the tax office is likely to start looking into where you are and why you don't. Its a criminal offence so you get a criminal record when convicted - it becomes even harder to get a job then.... Start paying... |

The tax man will get you in the end...make no mistake.
You will then be assessed by the tax man who will estimate what you own him...this sum may be a lot higher than what you really own him but you are a proven liar by this time and so will not be believed......you will then have to pay a fine..dependant upon what you own...and interest on all this money from the time it was due.
A tax investigation can take many years and you might also have to pay a small fortune to an accountant to sort it all out.
Good luck. |
