Did you know that in the UK there are big secure boxes all around villages and towns for postman to store their postbags in whilst on their rounds?
Well, according to a postman I know, there is now so much post that they cannot store them all in these boxes, so....
...bags of our post are either left at people's homes in the neighbouring area (i.e. in the hands of someone who does not work for Royal Mail or hold any legal responsibilty over the post), or....
...they are just 'hidden' in random places that anyone could potentially come across and steal.
It stuns me that this is allowed and is not brought to public attention. So many people send important documents, personal information and valuable items in the post. No wonder so many items go missing!
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS?

p.s. This is without doubt the truth, so anyone who doesn't believe it does so at their own risk! Not all postman are given vans! Most have to deliver by foot because they wont pay for transport. |

Its true! our post man, leaves a bag full of mail by the basement door next to us, ready for the next post man to collect sometimes up to 4 hours later. The area we are in has many hotels so majority of Post will have deposit cheques in. The 5 hotels and us have complained but it is still done. I keep thinking i should bring it in then watch the post mans face when he sees it has gone! |

Our postie dumps it at the news agent down the road but I have been in there before now and had to wait 5 minutes before anyone come out so anyone could nick it it makes me sick. I have even had post delivered to me for my mate that lives 3 streets away it makes you wonder if they just pick idiots who cant read??? |

Didn't know about this, but it is common knowledge that lots of post goes missing every year.
With the amount of money RM makes per year, they should seriously be named and shamed and accountable for lost post! |

i worked as a deliveryman,short lived job as very hard,not easy when u get stiched up with big heavy walks..but yes this goes on ,bags left in bushes or someones house or a shop..nice eh. |

This does not suprise me in the least, big business's always cut corners..I had a new passport sent to me abroad by the international service from the royal mail...Oh yes they lost it and then told me that once it has left British soil it's not their problem !! I said that they should stop using the "International" bit as they obviously are not and it is a lie that they have an international service, they replied that they didn't lie to the person who sent it they just mis - informed them !!! |

I know about it theses palces are called Safe Drops and the person who has one of these gets paid for it, these are used mainly because the postman has a long way to go back to the sorting offfice for the next bag. I'm sorry but this isn't a big secret you obviously haven't been asked to be a Safe Drop. Documentation has to be signed by the person holding the mail bags also the drops aren't random the postie asks certain people in key areas of his walk if they would allow a bag to be held on their property. More items of mail are stolen out of vans than from Safe Drops |
