this dispute should have been nipped in the bud ages ago
only Brown won't get involved because the government
has a hidden agenda brought about by EU competition
regs. |

You sir, are pure low life
Snetterton is right, this is an unreported reaction against a move to kill off the royal mail as we know it and its implications will affect all you more than you can imagine right now |

I'd have more sympathy with the postal workers if they realised that you can't just go on doing the same thing when circumstances change. Yes, the government has precipitated a crisis in the subpost offices network. Yes, the government has caused problems by withdrawing the PO monopoly, but you have to accept what you can't change, and a strike isn't going to alter what has already happened. More postal strikes simply mean more people using email, so they are likely to be doing themselves out of a job. The outfit has made enormous losses over the last decade or so, and you can't expect the taxpayer to go on financing losses for ever on a service that should be profitable.
Hire some Poles? The BNP and UKIP would love that one, wouldn't they?
Replace the management, perhaps? They don't seem to be very good at industrial relations. |

Is your middle name Thatcher by any chance?? Why shouldn't the working man have a say in his conditions and pay?
I firmly support the working mans right to strike! And will be leaving my postman a tip to help in his fight for fairness! |

what do postmen get paid? how many hours a week/day do they work, do they do 40 hours a week? I find this hard to believe as most are in the pub by at least 11.30 round my area and think they start about 7.30am so thats what , 4 hours a day? sure they pick the post up at night, but how many post boxes do they cover each?
if they dont like the pay, get another job, simple.
why should a postmans job be any diff from an employed person in a different job? so what if they have a union!
sure im all for being paid what your worth and without these guys we would have a postal service, but some people dont get pay rises at all, but cant strike because they dont belong to a union, some people cant even get work.
if i want a payrise i have to prove im valuable to my company or train to gain extra qualifications, I cant just up my sticks and not come into work for a week in the hope they will pay me more because i hold em to ransom. |

what a bunch of ignorant idiots. the unions are there to protect the working peoples rights , without there support we would be back in the dark ages as far as working practices. how do you think the rich become richer by exploiting people from 3rd world countrys and ex communist bloc.some people obviously dont know whats its like to live in poverty ,bosses dont care if the worker cant feed his kids as long as he makes money [wake up] |

Sack the lot of them, i want my mail. why should royal mail have the monopoly on delivering small mail. lets privatise this sector so we can have a choice who delivers our mail. it would create competition and hopefully they would do a better job then royal mail. How many letters do they lose each year? |

No doubt you don't belong to a union? No doubt you live on more than £280 a week? No doubt you believe no-one should have the right to strike? No doubt you have no understanding of why it is a fundamental right to withdraw your labour in the face of fat cat bosses imposing unworkable new working practices and massive job losses on a workforce?
If Royal Mail wins on this one, there will not be a recognisable postal service within 2 years. You won't even get post delivered every day. People in some mostly rural areas will have to go to the nearest town to collect their mail.
Already, post offices and sub post offices are doing pre-sorting of mail - they have been told to do it or lose their franchises - so Royal Mail can sack sorting office staff.
60 workers have lost their jobs at Greenford mail centre already in the last three months because of this.
The post office staff don't want to do this but they have no choice. They are not in the CWU and are largely self-employed. |
