the games look way way better on a HD TV... well worth getting one. Otherwise just stick to xbox or ps2 for now.
Looks like Blu-Ray is going to win the format war, so that should factor into your decision making.
Currently I'd say there were much better games and better online experience on 360 than PS3. but I guess it depends on what franchises you like to play.
Make sure you have a good internet connection too, if you like playing online. At minimum DSL, and preferably Cable internet.
If you get drums....
You will have a skill throughout life... its good to have musical skills... Helps you apreciate many more forms of music.
Get an electronic set plus headphones.... so you dont drive everyone crazy. They are also easier to store and pack up. You can get some cheap beginner learner sets, to try it out for a while to see if you like it. Also worth getting some lessons.
See if there is anyoine nearby that you can get a couple of lessons from, without buying a drum kit first.
So I'd recommend..
1) get a couple of drum lessons.... if you love it... buy used or cheap electronic drum kit, and keep saving for a games console.
2)if you get console... go with the system that has your favourite games... but don;t forget about blu--ray movies, and a HD-TV or projector. |

Drums will get you the ladies. Video games will not.
HDTV will not really make a difference but very rarely the text is too blurry to read on a standard tv. |

drum kit! music won't get outdated. when the Xbox and PS3 are both completely obsolete and everyone has to shell out another 600$ for a new system your drumset will still be working fine |

Buy an electronic drumkit.
Less noise, same skills can be learned.
Much better to further yourself with music, than play video games!! |

Well, being a drummer since the fourth grade, I would go with the drum kit. Playstation and Xbox come and go, with age.... investing in a great kit will pay itself off as you get better.
Get the kit, start a band, and then look back on this question to see if I was right. |

A DRUM KIT!!
its a great hobby to do. alot better than playing some dumb games. |

A drum kit will be the same price year in and year out, gaming systems go down in price I mean take the gamecube for example, it's practically worthless now. If I were you I'd get the drumset now because the gaming systems will get cheaper as time goes on. |

Get a drum kit. But make sure it is a synth drum kit if you have neighbors. In a few years, when your games console is dated garbage your drums will still be going strong. And you will have a musical talent! |

Drum kit bro.
Imagine being a drummer for a job when you grow up? That would be awesome!
Yeah you could be a video game programmer too, but PS3 & XBOX just let you play the games, not how to make them.
Besides, they ALWAYS come out with something newer & then you feel you have to but it like PS4 or XBOX 720, etc.... |

PS3, its high def ready, on-line is free, headsets are all blue tooth, it is the only blue ray player on the market that will play all blue rays in 10 years time (due to up datable firm wear), Sony have great customer service, it will link to your PSP allowing you to access your hard drive any where, MGS4 is out soon, FFXIII is out next year some time, its shiny and black, it is a graphically Superior to Xbox, it has huge future potential due to the data that can go on to a blue ray (50GB most games don't come close to using this yet) and it doesn't make as much noise as an xbox. BUT if you decide to get an Xbox or PS3 you will NEED to by a high def TV at least 720p. Hi def is far better than regular tv and makes on line gaming much more enjoyable (due to the clarity of distant objects). |

Hey, if i was you i would get an Xbox 360 even if i dint had an HD tv because is very fun to play it online, not the drum kit beacuse it is hard to learn how to start and i takes a lot of time practice. |

I'd say PS3. From personal experience, Xbox 360 dvd drives are dodgy. Im not keen on drums either. PS3 comes with free online gaming, blu ray player etc. anyhow. |

its a kodak moment

get real drums and learn how to play
at least when people say "im great at rockband or guitar hero" you can say "can you really play the drums".
or just fake it and get a xbox 360 (but gt the drums first) |

Get an Xbox, you can then get guitar hero to pretend you are a muscian, when you next have the urge to play the drums just get your moms saucepans out and bang on them until the urge subsides. |

I would recomment the Xbox 360, simply because I personally think it has better games than a PS3, and the only difference not having a HD ready TV will make is that the video output will not be as high quality as it would be with HDMI input. The game will still play with no hitches. |

A drum kit. My best friend is really into video games and he is right now (ironically) in the hospital for surgery on his gull bladder. The leading causes was high cholesterol food and a SEDENTARY lifestyle, meaning he sits on his *** too much. Get the drunk kit and live a more active lifestyle. Screw video games. |

drum kit. Then you can bang it. |

I would say buy the PS3. But hey, that's just because i don't like XBox.
The drum kit would be something new and fun and it could actually bring you places in life, though. |

I have a all 3, none are easy.
PS3 is fun, but not alot of titles compared to Xbox 360
Xbox 360 kicks a$$ + playing on internet is fun. Can also play the drums on it with rock band.
Drums: Been playing for past few years, takes alot of money to invenst into a decent set. Everytime you want to try something new or buy a new piece, u usually shell out a couple hundred bucks for something new.
Its also not fun practicing alone, the sounds of the drums dont really click until you play in a band. |

drum kit
I had the decision to get a mp3 player a violin or a psp
I chose violin because those electronic things will some day get old but the violin will always bring you joy when learning songs and you can make others happy as well |

Hmm
Depends on how much you want to play drums
I play drums myself and it is brilliant.
Much more of a life than playing a games console.
Trust me.
I got a 360 too and I play drums more.
I would go with playing drums.
So much more fun and creativity.
But
If you were to buy a console I would buy a 360
Reason is, much better online mode and the game quality is good. (: |
