Should I take the risk & leave negative feedback on eBay?
I have an issue at the moment, and I don't know what to do, your advice would be appreciated.

I sold an item on 18 September. The winner sent an email saying she would pay immediately. Money did not arrive. After two weeks, and a few emails from me, she replied and said she had been overseas, would pay the following day. Nothing happened.

A few days later, I emailed her again. This time she said she had an unexpected Bill to pay, so would pay me the following week. Again, nothing came.

Its been over a month since she won the item so I filed a dispute resolution. Her answer was "sorry but i told you already that my partner has commited suicide so i have to pay for the funeral so you will not be getting payment sorry but was unexpected." She had NEVER told me this. After all the excuses she has given me in the past, I don't think I believe her. If I leave her negative, she might leave me negative, and I don't know if it's worth it, but don't want her to get away with it.

negative feedback is the way EBay wants users to warn other buyers/sellers
just leave something like "Never received payment for item bought"...when and if she leaves you negative feedback, you can add a comment to HER post to explain why you left her negative feedback in the first place without going into "detail"

Dragon Empress
I know how that feels as I've been in this situation many a time. I always thought if I leave neg feedback then the other person will which puts your feedback on a downside. I know in cases you can leave neg feedback and if you get a bad reply back you can get eBay to delete their feedback - but I've never done this.

Be bold and do what u feel is right. Do not bother about what her feedback is likely to be. She can probably give the feedback only when she pays for the item.

YES! Copy what you have here, and paste it into the feedback box. Others should know about this.

robocop48
Absolutely post negative feedback!!!! Do you want this deadbeat to mess over other honest folks? Let people know that she went on and on with a list of excuses so they don't get burned.

larry s
if you enjoy being held hostage then do nothing... and the feedback system becomes useless

If what she says is true then I think you should show a little compassion and stop worrying about not getting your money. Since you have no way of knowing whether it is true I would give her the benefit of the doubt. I assume this does not involve large sums of money? Get over it!

I have a lot of experience selling & buying on Ebay & my advice is: If you havent lost money or goods let it go! A negative feedback will almost certainly will attract one in return and it will never go away! Dont leave a positive though

Leave the negative feedback to protect others. Who cares what she says. The truth wins out.

parrothead2371
File the negative feedback. That is what it is for. I had a similar situation but in reverse. You dont know how many others this has happend. It isnt fair to you, since you could have sold it to others that would have paid.

mspts123
I would leave it! Because you will not be able to re-post that item. People will think it is defective.
Report her to Ebay and send them the emails! They will back you. Also try to sell on www.craigslist.org for free in your local area or www.amazon.com (there is a fee for amazon.com)

Take care.

There are other ways of selling your items. I don't Ebay b/c if he items does not sell you still have to pay the fees for posting the item. www.craigslist.org is absolutely free and you can sell items locally. Oh yea and try www.backpage.com

thelukeandrews
ok i've never left neg. feedback, but SURELY you can't give someone negative feedback if they give it to you first. that would just be silly.

Besides, as a matter of principal, you should let the world know this person's a (explicit deleted).

Did you actually post them the item? if not, maybe just give neutral feedback- that still looks pretty bad and separates the irritating idiots like your person from the full-on scammers
