yes. if it was allowed people wouldnt try and hide it by sticking it under the desk. my senior year in high school there was gum all under every desk. my freshman year of college, i didnt have to worry about scrapping my hand under the bottom of the desk. the reason? you didnt have to hide it. |

i think it should stay disallowed. The biggest reason is it is hard to clean up. School aged kids have proven that they cannot be responsible with it, and even when they try, if they miss the trash can, it turns into a mess that takes forever to clean up. Also, it is a distraction. Some kids chew it loud, pop bubbles without realizing it and then you would have interuptions of kids asking others for a piece. |

No. Students should be paying attention to their instructors or studies and it is a form of disrespect in most forms of human socialization. You would not chew gum meeting a high ranking official or anyone regarded as famous or impressive or in rank in the military. And I doubt most of us would like a gum smacking waiter or clerk assisting us in a professional setting. |

i really dont see anything wrong with it as long it is not during speaking and singing courses and as long as kids are responsible and dispose of it properly. to get this rule to change you will have show how responsible students would be with the gum. |

I work in a middle school, and I can see why gum isn't allowed. It is very distracting, no matter how careful you are, it gets stuck in carpets and people could possibly sit on a wad of gum. It is gross when it is stuck under desks!! Gum should be chewed at home or on your free time. Not in school. |

No, have you ever tried to clean up gum off of tables floors and especially carpet? I am still in school but I do have to take care of that kind of stuff at work, yeah it sucks. |

I don't see why not, as long as they keep it in there mouths and don't make alot of noise chewing it, but then there's the ones that ruin this for everyone, sticking it on the tables and in peoples hair, some people can think better chewing gum, some people chew gum to be less nervous, I think they should be allowed to...God bless |

No. Because people do not dispose of it properly. It causes many thousands of dollars in damage to schools every year...as it ruins carpets and the undersides of desks and painted walls, and even water fountains. |
