No, I don't. Although I personally haven't read them, I understand that it is very entertaining reading. And do keep in mind, they are FICTION.
We are on a very slippery slope when we decide this or that reading material should be banned. Who gets to decide this ?
We all have different convictions. What if a large group of people decided the Bible should be banned?
Absolutely not(!), you say? Why? Because it's the word of God, you say. But a lot of people don't believe in your God or the Bible. So again, who gets to decide this.
If you ,and others like you, don't want to read the Harry Potter books, that's fine. It's certainly your right. But you don't have the right to dictate what others should or should not read because of your personal belief system. |

I don't believe anyone should have the right to ban any book.
How about we make a deal and I'll agree to ban Harry Potter books, if you agree to a ban on all religion.
Take a moment and realize that not everyone thinks like you, nor does everyone believe what you believe.
If you can't deal with it you are on the wrong planet as it will never change here. |

It should not be banned. Its not doing any harm to our society rather its providing a neat entertainment. |

If god wanted them to be banned he never would have given the woman the intelligence to write them. If you don't like them don't read them no one is forcing you |

First off I am a Christian, Harry Potter books are entertaining and make believe. No where in the books does Harry Potter or his friends call up satan or demons.
If you don't want to read them, don't but don't tell me that I can't. |

Harry Potter should not be banned. God also gave us the ability of creativity. What I mean is that we all have the ability of living past the bible. God didn't tell us that we couldn't explore. Sure enough Harry Potter isn't telling us to go to witch craft. Harry Potter has alot of life issues involved. Like Bullying, friends, life basically. I rather my kids to read Harry Potter and let there imagination explore. Personally I think you have some problems. |

Harry Potter books shouldn't be banned. The books simply tell a story. A fantasy. I hardly think that the books are intentionally written to convert young readers to witchcraft. I have read all six books over several years and I am no less a Christian than when I was when I first picked up the books. If these types of books are banned then half of any bookstore would be nothing but empty shelves. Think of it that way. |

he may not believe in witchcraft, but do you think he doesn't believe in creativity? art? fiction? Do you think he believes in the Jetsons? Murder mysteries? Halo? they'are all just artistic expressions. Harry Potter is a story from someone's imagination, I'd let it go.
If you're that religious, I'd be thinking "if Jesus didn't like it, he wouldn't have let it come to be" - it's obviously ok, so it's here on earth. |

I go to a Christian school, and they showed Harry Potter movies in the auditorium. They are pretty conservative, but they still showed them, but they made a point of making sure everyone knew witchcraft was bad. They put up Bible verses before hand and explained that Christians need to make sure to be able to differentiate fantasy from the truth. I approved of how they did that. The Bible does talk about witchcraft and says it's evil, but it says practicing it is evil. I do not think getting entertainment from a fictional story that has witchcraft in it is sin in any way. It is a fantasy story, J. K. Rowling wrote it in that way and has in no way tried to pass it off as truth. They are children's stories, and no different from fairy tails, and should be taken as such. |

No no no. If you could have those books banned. What would your next choice be...and the one after that. Perhaps you could lobby to ban people you don't like or those who you believe have a bad influence on people . |
