Ok, I'm on holiday in Spain at the moment, I visited a atm machine in the shopping mall, withdrew 140 euros and walked away, yep without the bloody money.
I realised I didnt have the money, when i went to pay for a lovely new pair of shoes, I noticed i didnt have the cash (and had to use my credit card). There was noone around me at the time so I'm hoping the cash machine sucked the money in before anyone had the chance to get their beady eyes on it. Has this happended to anyone else before and what did they do in this situation? I am hoping that there is a way of geting the money back, if not I will try to accept that I have just bought a really really expensive pair of shoes. |

Your best bet is to ring your bank straight away and inform them of your mistake. I know that certain ATM's give you 30 seconds to take your cash and If you haven't taken it in that time then the machine bleeps at you and takes the money back into your account. I'm just not sure if thats the case with every ATM. Do you not have Internet Banking where you could log on and see the last transaction. Mine are shown up instantly. Failing that ring the bank and ask them to check your last transaction details. Fingers crossed you are lucky and nobody has noticed the money still in the machine and it has taken it back.

Sorry to hear about this! Easily done, especially when your on holiday when your mind is elsewhere.
Cash Machines do take the money back in if it hasn't been taken within a certain period.
However, I know a couple of people in this country, there was one of YA recently who have faced terrible problems getting the money back, with their bank saying they had to speak to the bank that owned the cash machine and vice versa.
With the language barrier etc its going to be even worse!
Talk to your card company and explain the situation, and see what can be done. Its the only way you can possibly get this sorted out. (And keep your fingers crossed that no one else has taken the money!) |

dear,
you r on holiday so enjoy your holiday without worry to pay payment of shoe. just if you have not got money with Atm machine you should ask any person first transaction it. or every atm machine has a guard so first enquiry everything before use unknown . so it is your mistake so bear this amount self. if you have not got this amount then you should contact to customer care for related this transaction. just a slip came out from atm details of transaction so go there and get second time transaction with atm machine for solve problem to next time transaction with atm. you r more wisdom person so why did so mistake never could so type foolish again.

Well it has never happened to me. But it has to Jo Whiley. She was talking about this on the radio the other day. And apparently the cash machine will take the money back in if it has not been removed after a specific amount of time. Good luck! |

lol of cource there's a way i would call your credit card first and see if anymoney was out of atm if yes then say to them the story and hopefully they'll believe you |

Wow, it might depend whether the money actually came out of the machine or not. I can be very absent minded at times,but have never done that..
Good luck , I hope you get it back. But I think it would be interesting to see what people would do if they saw money left in a money machine. How many would quickly grab it and walk off. Or who would just walk past etc,hmmmm,would be interesting.
