they are bang out of order, i only have a bank account because the child benefit agency and tax credits lot want to pay into an account!!!
and as the money is for my kids i wanted to keep it separate from our main account. I don't want to have to pay for my account as it would come to a large sum over a yr as not that much gets paid in to start with |

I think we should charge £10 for our service. So, at the moment, I am working as a receptionist, I will ask every client I meet £10, because I am smiling and providing them with useful information and high standard service. And when doing my groceries the supermarket should charge me £10 more, because they are keeping the products cool and fresh, and their employees are always smiling and getting our things inside a bag, all of this just for me. (how kind of them!)
And I think as well, that the bank should pay us £20, because of all the banks there are in this world, we chose them of all the mattresses we have in our homes we decided to put our money in their bank. So in fact we are doing them a favour. According to my calculation, £20-£10=£10, they should pay us £10 a month, because we are excellent clients.
I wonder when will we be charged to breath the polluted air of London? |

that is soo gonna get alot of hassle from people, if people wanted a bank, they wuld have the money at home, so then they wouldn't be charged, its like they are adding vat and stuff on it.
just like a flipping loan, what are they thinking, jeez, i only get £120 a month and they want me to give them £10 of my well earned money, they well can fork off. |

I am not happy about this at all.
What is it with the £1500 minimum payment into your account. That is so unfair. I'm sure there are a lot of people that don't pay that kind of sum into their current accounts every month. First Direct are just being greedy. There are going to be a lot of unhappy people over this.
I have two accounts. One on my own and then a joint one with my boyfriend. I don't want to be penalised for this just because they are greedy gits. |

Banks are in business to make money.
However, by targetin their poorest, most vunerable customers the seem to be ignoring their moral duty.
By charging anyone who earns less than 25000 GBP per annum or who doesn't want to get into debt with them they seem to be sticking two fingers up at the public. |

i do not bank with first direct but if i did i would look for a bank that didnothave this 10POUND fee.its shocking that they would do this to.the public should not be charged for saving their own money,we work to hard just to give it away. |

As the banks' profits reduce I'm sure we'll see more and more charges for things that were previously free. It's a cut-throat business however and no-one will want to be the first until they feel they have no option. There will always be cheaper or free alternatives, so watch and wait. |

I think that this will make people stop using banks and start keeping their money at home.
Don't they make enough money already!
Soon we will be charged to walk to streets its getting ridiculous. |

Like everything else in modern England there is no loyalty to customers. If my bank start to charge I will keep moving around to the bank that doesn't. Eventually there will be a bank out there with lots of customers like me.
I can't understand the £1500 limit - the banks make interest on someone with a £1k balance yet still want to charge.
Greedy greedy greedy.
Nothing would make me happier than seeing First Direct collapse over this. |

Yet again, Banks are punishing those people who don't have much money.
Not everyone can put 1500 quid in their accounts every month, and I think it is disgusting that the most needy are being picked on again!!! |

How do you think they're going to pay those nice bank tellers you talk to every day? The ones that give your kids the free suckers and probably have kids of their own at home to support... they can't pay their bills with dum-dum's ;-) |

Banks here have 'always' charged for accounts ... a fee per month. So, no offense, I don't think it's unfair that you have to pay for what everyone else is already paying for. |
