Eggs came before chickens.
Long before there were chickens there were other birds who laid eggs, there were reptiles who laid eggs and before them there were dinosaurs, who laid eggs.
Evolution is a slow process. Before what we think of as the modern domestic chicken evolved, their ancestors were born from eggs, grew up, ate worms, laid eggs in turn and died. Not matter how far back you go from modern chickens, there were birds who laid eggs, and passed on their genetic heritage.
Wherever you chose to draw a line in the sand and say "this was the first chicken" well, it had parents. And those parents laid eggs.
So yes, eggs came before chickens. LONG BEFORE CHICKENS! |
