There are quite a few possible negative side effects of snorting pills or any type of drug through the nose. Obviously, nasal bleeding and irritation as well as infection depending on the drug are all possible.
Also keep in mind that the pills you may be getting could be of a higher concentration than, say, a starting dosage for a patient. A lot of drugs have very serious side effects (seisure, death), when you change your dosage dramatically or introduce all of the dosage to your bloodstream at once. Snorting allows for the drug to be introduced to your bloodstream very quickly because it does not have to dissipate through food and stomach acid and soak through the walls of your stomach; it only needs to enter your lungs to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Have you ever taken the time to think that a good-sized pill of a prescription medicine looks an awful lot bigger than the 3mg of actual medication? 3mg is 1/143 the weight of a paperclip. Put simply, that pill is nothing more than a tiny bit of medication, and then fillers like chalk or cellulose. Although these fillers pass through the digestive system without a problem, the lungs are not made to take on such foreign objects. These fillers are also not water-soluble.
Let's say you snort Vicodin. The possible side effects caused by overdose of Vicodin are as follows: slow breathing, seizures, dizziness, weakness, loss of consciousness, coma, confusion, tiredness, cold and clammy skin, small pupils, nausea, vomiting and sweating.
Vicodin (for example), also INCREASES the effects of other drugs that cause drowsiness, including other antidepressants and alcohol. Alcohol and Vicodin can often cause coma and/or death. Kids experiment with other pills (they don't just take one pill and stop), so Vicodin mixed with another powerful pain killer can also result in death.
Hopefully you're not asking because you do this. The high is not worth the death, unless you want to die.
