Dear Marshmallow,
The first step I would take is to check this man's history on ebay. If there are a lot of foreign buyers, I would delete him from wijnning your auction. I do not believe that you will ever see that moeny.
Last month, Dr. Phil had a woman on his show that had met a man online and "was in love with". This man was from Nigeria and he had taken this woman for a great deal of money. Dr. Phil's Show checked into this man and found out that he had taken advantage of a lot of women in the United States.
This man had also set up a fake lottery and was receiving lots of "Free Money".
This man would go online and find any websites that he thought that he could find someone to take money from. They are finding that a lot of scam artists are coming from NIgeria.

Well they could do a chargeback and scam you that way. You can't get a Paypal account with a confirmed address from Nigeria and so you the seller are not protected from a chargeback. |

I would be wary. For any auction, I pay attention to how well the buyer responds and communicates with me. If they are forth coming with information and answering emails quickly, usually they are a legitimate buyer. One thing you can do is link your Paypal account to a bank account and when the payment is sent to your Paypal, immediately transfer it to your bank account. If you accept checks or money orders, don't send the goods until the payment has been deposited and clears. For the overseas buyers, Paypal is about the fastest and safest for both parties. |

Yes, wait till the paypal receipt clears and then send the item. You should be alright. Make sure it is properly packed and verify your address with buyer. You will be alright. |

DANGER! many businesses will not deal with anyone or any "business" from nigeria. with good reason. it's like crime is a state sanctioned activity in nigeria.
yes there is crime at every level in nigeria. from low level scams, like i'm sure you've heard of, to drugs and weapons, to mercenary armies.

in conclusion i just have to say, nigeria is a wild west frontier and a dangerous war zone, crime is rampant through ALL strata of the population, and possibly state sanctioned. even the US State Dept, can't help you with any problem with Nigeria. I don't even know if Paypal operates in Nigeria and any paypal entity in Nigeria must be held suspect. that said, if you have money in hand.... well it's up to you. |

You placed the item for auction, you recieved the money, whats the problem. If the buyer was from Saudi Arabia would you ask this question. There are scams all over the world, I think there are more in USA than any other country. So sell to who you want, and do not sell to whom you dont like. You make 1/2 as much money that way. |
