i think there is a time limit .....i was a serving police officer building his own house....when barclays withdrew my overdraft overnight....due to the local manager retiring......they took to me to court for 25 grand obtained a judgement...then 2 days later lent me the same money at 4 percent over base...i finished the house and settled that loan to find that i had repaid only 100 pounds over four years of the capital...b strds...and i had been with them since i was 18...to this day i use them but i have never paid a penny in charges b4 or after....they really shafted me

I agree,I was being charged £30 for a direct debit, for a charity that never took the money out of my account, when they should have,so needless to say I cancelled the direct debit,I also informed bank, and they said they would waver it this time, the cheek,eh.

lazer lady
i think you can claim back five to seven years worth of over payment and there is a web site that can not only advise you but even gives you the letters to print out and send. its on a money savey sites

Good advice.
Once enough people do it they will have to just start charging what it actually costs them (or not charge) rather than the current charge that includes a massive profit.

purplestar
it's great that the fact it's possible to reclaim bank charges is getting more and more publicity

Yoy may wish to know that My building society current account pays good interest and I have not paid any charges in 10 years.

novabellamy
But how? NatWest are refusing to refund my charges, even after I've sent them numerous pleading letters, the thieving shysters. All they do is send me a leaflet about the bank ombudsman.

Banks only charge extortionate fees when you go outside of agreement. Talk to them when you think this will happen I have found my bank extremely good and have only paid minimum interest charges in over 18 years and been supplied with free banking, online services and convenient access to my money via debit cards and cheque books. You have to realise they are a business and have published charges they are not to blame its your mismanagement, free advice is always available at Lloyds TSB.
